Smart Casual

Go to Massimo Dutti or Zara and pick up a nice pair of Corderoys in Navy Blue or Beige. Massimo also does some nice shirts if you're a slim fit so pick up some good ones there. Avoid Loud/Noisy patterns, the simpler the shirt the better. Elegant, Sophisticated colours and classics, nothing shiny nothing patterned. Try to avoid shirts with plackets they look cheap and rubbish

Colours to look for if you're going with navy blue trousers are light to medium blues and whites. If you're going with beige, all blues light or dark, classic black or whites but my preference is blues as it's by far the most elegant combination and looks very sharp/expensive

Get an elegant brown belt, the more understated the better. Dunhill does very good ones but they're a bit pricey.

For shoes there is no other choice then louis vuitton monza loafers in my opinion. these things ooze class and elegance. Pick up a pair in brown or dark brown, they will go with either navy or beige trousers and you'll have the right belt already from the step above.

These are the ones I'm talking about, they'll set you back around 500 pounds but well worth every penny.

Louis Vuitton make horrible shoes for men, don't know why you're recommending those

Gucci or Berluti would be better...

For ~£100, Loakes, Hudson, Churchs are all decent brands for a good quality shoe. Check out www.kurtgeiger.co.uk :)

I agree, normally they do make horrible shoes for men but that's why I love these ones so much. They're very old school, classic yet trendy. I'm not recommending LV shoes, I'm merely recommending these particular ones to go with a smart/casual outfit that I suggested in my post. :)

Like I said, I couldn't care less about the brand, for me it's all about the design and the quality of that particular shoe. I really love shoes and in my opinion this is the best I've seen from the current collections.

And sorry but would you mind linking the shoes or stating their names. I'm behind a firewall I can't disable which is blocking your picture as the domain is being categorised as pornography

for smart casual i wear trainers, jeans and a polo-shirt.

i also failed to use capital letters in this post... go me

That's not smart casual that's very casual.

Smart casual typically means, trousers, shirt, nice shoes and potentially a jacket. No tie necessary.

People who think wearing a poloshirt and jeans is smart really concerns me.

Ah a few boos from the crowd

So let's see so far the loafers are for a...

**** and Wallet ******** (i dont even know what fills the stars after wallet)
Someone's Nan
A Gay guy

looooool very harsh

I tried writing the word after "wallet", but it was starred out. Suffice to say that it's a colloquialism for someone who masturbates. ;) At least I gave you credit for your other fashion tips. :D

Seriously mate, what response did you think you were going to get, telling people on this forum that "there is no other choice" than a pair of £500 slip-on loafers?

Of course there's another choice. You'll find it 20 yards down the high street, in any shop which sells perfectly good shoes at a sensible price. :)

Smart Casual at a wedding reception??? All depends who's wedding it is, and the location to be fair.
Def shirt n trou, maybe jacket and tie, job done.

While I dont rate those shoes, I actually have everything else you said. Im looking for something a bit different.. Something Ill be able to wear suit trousers with, not sure really.

Shoes are actually the main area Im stuck on.Most lofas are hideous imo, as are majority of standard 'smart shoes'.

Still though, thanks for the advice people.. I guess its the different ways of looking at 'smart casual' that is causing me problems. After something a bit different, but that can still be acceptable.

If you won't be wearing a tie, buy a good pair of brogues. Otherwise buy a pair of Oxfords.
