Smashing Pumpkins touring UK

As a fan of Muse I know it's hard to find good music due to Muse melting your mind, but yes Smashing Pumpkins have written some fantastic songs :)

LOL! Well said that man! Muse are okay, have written probably 3 good rock songs, but they will never compare to the giant rock bands of the early 90s.

Ah my favorite band ever, that is until they came to an end after Machina. Gish, Siamese Dream, Mellon Collie and Adore are my most played albums throughout the years and still are. Zwan were great, their gig in London is still one of my favorites. Shame they didn't last long.

After seeing his solo show in London I came to realise that it was all over. I stood there with a sour look on my face agreeing with the guy standing next to me (shouting mayonaise constantly) that it was ****. Took me 8 pints in Camden the next day to get over the disappointment.

The stuff he has come out with since they reformed has been very poor indeed.

I always said that I'd go to see them if they ever came to Newcastle but after seeing that they want forty sheets they can **** ***.

No he didn't shoot Kurt. Kurt did once kick him in the nuts though. :D

Oh dear, this sounds ominous :(

Yes...Muse have only written 3 good songs.

I love the way it's cool to dislike Muse nowadays. How grown up you are.

Muse don't interest me very much either. I can see why younger people like them after listening to much of the trash about but to me they will always be a second rate radiohead. Best muse song? The bends.

They sound nothing like Radiohead. Why do people always draw this comparison?

Shock as not everyone likes the same bands you do. Personally I think they're awful.

Err, because they formed a career by ripping off Radiohead?.

I always compare muse to "early" radiohead - I dont like Muse, i dont like too many keyboards/pianos they make me cringe.

As for this... well Pumpkins to me will always be Billy, D'arcy, James and +/-Jimmy
I dont care too much for this "covers band" and i doubt they will play any old stuff and even if they did id be like meh :/

Ill keep my memories of my teenage years intact

Actually chatting to a mate about this the other day.
Corgan always was SP anyway, the voice and the playing, he made the band tbh. The rest of the band moved on and the recent album was okay. I say recent ~4 years, it was okay though.

At the face of it though, it practically is SP, it's Corgan, and he is ridiculous on guitar, still is. No artist of that era is creating albums like Gish anymore anyway. Disagree? Post some links please.

As much as I'd love to see them again, £40 is too much money for a band that are pretty much passed it regardless of how awesome their back catalogue is. I'm sure the new new lineup sans Jimmy will be technically talented but it just doesn't have the same appeal.

I ended up getting tickets off ebay really cheap, they can be had for half price or less.

I went to the show last night with very low expectations but really quite enjoyed it. I think I prefered last night to when I saw them on the Machina tour with Jimmy, James and Melissa.

The set was made up of around 7 or 8 new songs that hardly anybody knows and the rest was Mellon Collie, Siamese Dream and Gish with the exceptiong of For Martha fom Adore.

The band were really tight and sounded great. The light show was very pretty and the spinning fan behind the drum kit held my attention during some of the newer songs :D

All in all I was happy with the show but something was missing, made me realise how much I miss what the band were but will never be again. The new Pumpkins however are a fantastic tribute.

Am seeing them tonight after getting tickets at the last minute.
Quite pleased to see a few tracks from Pisces Iscariot in the playlist as that was always my fav album, if only by a slim margin.

Mellon Collie & The Infinite Sadness and Adore are both great, particularly the first disc of the former.

Siamese Dream is, apparently, excellent, but I have not actually listened to it.

Siamese Dream is the seminal album! For my part i'd say they peaked with that, although Mellon Collie has some of my favourite tracks, including 'Here Is No Why', which i love. 'Starla' is another firm favourite of mine, from their early days.

It would have been a dream to have seen them in their heyday but i'm not at all interested in seeing them perform new material.
