Smoking...

at 12 how i wish now i said no to the Q, do you wanna fag?

12-33 20+ a day, but no cancer history in the family and hopefully i got away with it, prolly not but hey fingys crossed :)

I started a week ago and could quit anytime, I just find it helps me relax, I don't have access to any more than 2-3 a day so 3'would be the maximum, some days I wouldn't have any, could it really effect me ? I have a slow healing liver already does this matter ?

Of course it could affect you (and anyone near you). Bloody stupid way to take a drug that can be taken in a variety of far less harmful ways.

This argument annoys me, as smokers always seem to get criminalised for a lifestyle choice, you don't need to stnd near a smoker, why should they have to move for you?

Because they're deliberately poisoning everyone near them. It's not a difficult concept - people who choose to do harm to other people should avoid doing so.

There are many "lifestyle choices" that are criminalised because they harm other people. We call them "assault". It's flat-out illegal to spray dangerous chemicals in people's faces...except for smoking. Why the hell should it have such an enormously privileged legal status when all it does is harm people?

Even harmless substances are usually illegal to impose on people in such an intrusive way without their consent. Urine, for example. If I went around spraying a fine mist of urine on people I'd be put away, but that's harmless and doesn't even smell anywhere near as bad as tobacco smoke. If I sprayed my urine in your face would you be saying that it's your fault for allowing me to get within 10 feet of you and that I shouldn't be criminalised for my "lifestyle choice" of spraying urine on people?

Maybe something to do with those other things not raking in craploads of tax money?

I think you might be making a bit much of the 'deliberate' bit to make your point tbh. Inconsiderate in many cases, sure.

A good point.

They make a choice to do it, with full knowledge. That's a deliberate act. It may stem from being inconsiderate, but it's a deliberate act.

I've never even had a drag of a cig, despite all the peer pressure at school / college, just didn't see the fascination!

I don't see how people can afford it now! I occasionally glance at the prices in the corner shop and wow

I don't mind others who smoke though. I'm not really anti smoking. If its what others want to do, then that's up to them. The only thing that bugs me about it is when people have just had a cig and then come and sit next to you - They bloody stink! Yuck :o
