I've got one. Running an X4 955 at 3.4ghz and a 9800GT 1GB. I think they are very good value for money.
Sorry just wanting to check, all ready to go and pull the trigger on a 1gb pny version of the 9800gt. Seems like good value for money and will improve my system a lot.
Just wanted to make absolutely sure if it will fit, and also worried about cooling. I quite like having the case shut, will it run with the case on or do the temperatures go through the roof? I'm not excessively heavy user and unlikely to do any heavy gaming with mostly cad and internet use if that helps.
Thanks
cool thats that ordered then, Let you know how i get on
No worries, Probably be early next week I expect.
I'll try and upload some snaps of it in place if you like or something?
Also do you find when you close your optical drive the cover is left suck out?
I have a 9800 GT in my shuttle, which is a very capable card but I can no longer run for very long with the lid on as it overheats.
thought i'd put a tiny bit of input in this for what it's worth!
Ordered a verso avenger pre built from the oc site (worked out cheaper than building it myself!), which uses the sn78sh7; and spent a bloody age worrying and fussing about what card to get (taking in to account size, power consumption and temperature at load).
Read reports of people shoving 9800's in to shuttles with 250w psus with no problems- but i still freaked out a tad about that. I decided to opt out of the 4850 as it seemed right on the edge of what the psu could handle (and it runs very hot!), and looked elsewhere. I was suprised to find out that I could have opted for a dual slot card- and was very tempted to get a 5750- which uses less power and runs cooler than 4850's and has slightly better performance.
Anyways to cut a long story short, I played it safe and got a 4670- not ideal but it'll do me for now. I'll get either go for a 5750 when the second round are out (there's 'green editions' floating about that are single slot and just powered through the pci-e slot too, would be ideal!), or will get one of those 500w psu's (although they're bloody expensive! probably worth it in the long run.)
Hope the 9800gt works out for you though!
OK, new card installed just installed the drivers as well.
One initial concern, the card seems to be idling at 66 degrees c with the case off, and feels very warm to the touch!
