So...3GB isn't enough for the future?

People have been asking "Is X video RAM enough for the future" since the dawn of the discrete GPU. Guest what? 4MB wasn't enough "for the future", neither was 128MB.
 
3GB is plenty for now the real issue is lazy devs not making proper use of stuff like dxtc and static meshes where appropriate.
 
Nothing is future proof, the bane of life.

I am still undecided myself whether to upgrade or not or go xfire or not.
 
How long is a peice of string..
3GB wont be fine in the future if you wish to max every setting,, mind you nor will 4gb,, all depends where you choose to draw the line

In all seriousness games like watch dogs and titanfall do not help the vram debate as they both use a texture cache system to instantly fill the vram. What they actually need is anyone's guess.
 
If you need 4gb card for 1080p soon as you start going to 1440p+ 4gb wont be enough either,, tbh sounds like lazy coding really
Grab some 8GB 290's while you can matt :)

Am i glad i bought a 4GB card :D

With the new consoles having a massive 8GB available to them there was talk that games are going to start using more vRam.
