So, anyone got an iRobot Roomba or other robot vacuum cleaner?

Do any of the modern vacuums handle more than one floor? eg: Upstairs and downstairs?

For example, my Xiaomi will only remember the floor plan of the last full clear it did, so if I put it upstairs to do a full clean that the floor plan it then has until it then replaces it when I do a full downstairs clean.

So do any of the more modern vacuums/apps handle multiple floors?

eufy x10 does, if you google it might say it can't mop multiple floors without moving the base station but they changed that in one of the firmwares

My x10 omni came.
mapped the apartment and did a deep clean.

Auto emptying sounds like a jet engine.
Mop drying takes hours and sounds like an old school pc

Mop leaves the floor visibly wet and it hoovers at the same time, makes me wonder if having a combined model sacrifices some cleaning power or it would be sucking up water on the floor surely.

seems to have done at least as good a job as my old one on the hoover front.
the dirty water tank was surprisingly murky so I guess the mop also did a pretty good job.

Was cool watching it go under my bed, it has a little flashlight it turns on so the AI camera can avoid any big spiders :D

Too smart for its own good and thinks curtains are solid objects so won't properly hug the edge if you have a curtain that almost touches the floor.

might just be because my living room curtains are deep black though

EDIT>
Did a full deep clean with edge hugging mopping and it was 20% faster than my old dumb robot with no lidar that only hoovered :D, it does much tighter lines too so technically hoovered a lot more.

also still had over 50% battery where as my old one would have been on about 15% by the end even with a new battery in it.

I really feel like maybe I should just ‘send it’ more with my roomba… I spend too much time not running it because I’m worried about item ‘x’ on the floor (that’s practically, fairly stable) but am worried about the impact… anyone else have the same experience?

I pulled out my fridge for the first time in probably 2 years, absolutely filthy under it, some liquids had even crusted up under there.

I dragged a box around that area of the kitchen in the app, set it to 2x, deep clean, edge hugging, high water usage.

took a total of 6 goes but eventually the x10 had it about as clean as I could do myself.

Tempted to get a top end model at the next sales... or whenever new models come out tbh...
The only thing that worries me is the warranty periods, I don't think I'd wanna spend 1-1.5k without something like a 5-10 year warranty

Surely it doesn't hit that hard? if it's a model with AI vision it shouldn't hit anything.
If it's a dumb one they still shouldn't hit that hard? just a slight bump about enough to close a door, which my old G30 did many times in the bathroom...

The worst thing about dumb models seem to be the edge scraping they do, probably not noticeable on skirting boards, but on my doors I bet everyone has a slight ruler line going horizontal across them a few inches high.

Did you not wipe the worst ff it off first with a kitchen towel?

hell no, why would I do that? the base station cleans the pads anyway..
Also I wanted to see if it could clean it.
Really impressed though it does a pretty good job :D

I didn't clean my kitchen or bathroom floor for so long my white socks kept getting really dirty on the bottom :D
took about 4 mops before the dirty water ran clean and the floor feels much smoother

I'm just too lazy to fill a bucket with warm water and grab the real mop.

The x10 is slightly wider than the old g30 I had though and doesn't fit down one side of the toilet...
well it might if I disable AI vision. I'll have to test it, I think the gap is big enough but the lidar won't chance it

Edge mopping is awesome, the robot kinda pauses as it moves along the skirting board and drags the rear end around so the pads rub against the wall

I would have cleaned the worst off to avoid any potential extra maintenance to the machine but also you are right, its great to test it and seems like it worked really well.

As for not being assed to manually mop, you are preaching to the converted, I have had a mopping station robot for a while now and I can never go back! :D

We had this with our newer T20 Omni Deebot - the previous 980 Deebot (now doing upstairs) would clean under the sofas and chairs but the T20 wasn't. I disabled the real-time 3D scanning and detection and it now charges around going under the furniture again.

Eufy had a survey on the app about carpet cleaning.
they must be planning to bring out a proper carpet cleaner robot for deep cleans.

We are still using a G30, are the newer model much of an improvement in cleaning performance?
I went from a G30 to a x10 omni pro,

With the G30 any time I did a real hoover the only stuff that got picked up was really fine almost like a white powder.

With the x10 I 've not done any manual hoovering yet, but looking at the dust tray a few times it seems like the x10 is literally getting everything possible.

I'd say the cleaning performance is 2-3x as good, there's a visible difference just looking at the carpet imo between a G30 and x10.

It's also 3x the price though, but does have the added benefit of a mopping at the same time as it vacuums.

You just missed the sale though, I'd imagine there will be another one around xmas

TBH I'm so happy with the x10 that I kinda wish I went with a Eufy S1 instead

So my OG Xiaomi Mi Robot vacuum cleaner (v1) bought 2017 is getting a bit long in the tooth now and starting to make some odd noises so decided it's about time to upgrade.

Found an open box eufy x10 pro omni on Currys for 450 (plus 10% TopCashBack) and should be here on Tuesday. looking forward to giving it a whirl (and integrating with with HA).

House is 30% carpet, 70% laminate. Xiaomi will be relocated upstairs.

My Eufy X8 has a dead battery. Eufy confirmed it could send me a new battery, but then messed up and told me to go to Amazon. Amazon offered me a full refund to return it, or a partial refund but only €50. Since a battery shows as €70 anyway i've taken the full refund.

Now looking for a replacement. I wouldn't mind a self emptying mopping robot and the house is 100% tiled floor (with some rugs). The hunt begins!

I grabbed the Dreame L40 Ultra from Costco (pnline) for £675, one of the best available in the UK and very impressed with its mopping/vacuuming.. all the top end ones are much of a muchness, so you can't go wrong with any of the recommended ones on vacuum wars, it was just too good an offer considering it has only just been released and RRP was £999.
(Costco has it for £700 at the moment)

Finally gave in to the robot overlord takeover..

Got a Xaomi S20, think it was around £100.. only got a two bed flat, with hard floors in all but the bedrooms.

I've done a full vaccum twice and it seems to do ok, even around my small dining table, which is 90% legs.

Not tried the mopping yet, and probably won't bother.

All I can say is wish i'd done it sooner. And felt like a propper geek nerd.. watching the S20 vaccum the flat while sat in the pub.. ;)

Cheers. Tried to go looking at some at the weekend to gauge size/design of the refilling stations, but they only had the L10 in the local store. Looks like i can get the L40 Ultra for around €850 which converts similar to your price.

Trying to get the balance of performance vs budget. My current X8 just had a gravity fed mop thing and wasn't fantastic as it was one of the earlier mop options. Things seem to have moved on a lot. Main thing for me is the cleaning/drying the mop pad at the base. Ours stunk if you didn't clean it straight away and so we stopped using it.

I've always been put off by the £1000+ (sale price) of top end vacuum/mops so never caved, at £675/£700 the L40 just tipped in to the top end of my budget for the 'expensive but has everything' category.

It's #3 in Vacuum Wars best robot vac/mops (https://vacuumwars.com/best-vacuum-cleaners/robot-vacuums/) the two above it are not available in the UK.. If you watch the review, it outscores the more expensive X40 Ultra.

What I can say is that features wise, watching what it does and how it performs, the mop and brush bar 'extend' feature (that all the top end ones do) really gets right to the plinths and if there is any gap will get under (like our American fridge/freezer).. And it's navigation is impressive, we have 3 bar stools (4 legged) under the kitchen island and the thing gets right in there, navigating between the legs.. it takes its time but it's almost doggedly determined to get every last little bit of floor covered. Its far exceeded my expectations.

Yeah, pretty much all the top end models do everything, wash the mops, dry the mops, it has no odour what so ever after nearly a month of use, I have spare mop pads, but don't need to think about changing yet.. The base is slightly noisy in that emptying/filling water/dust can be a bit noisy with pumps gurgling.. but the drying is quiet enough and you can even set it to only charge during certain hours, so I can fit it in with our EV overnight cheap tariff.

The only thing it failed on is a 35-40mm super high ultra deep pile rug.. the problem being it butts up to our hearth, so whilst it struggles, it can get on/off it and vacuum it, but once got stuck as it beached itself on the hearth.. we are going to find a short pile rug (something 'normal') as just letting it loose and coming back to a clean room for no effort is so convenient.. we just life the recliners up whilst watching TV and I get the robot (now named Dobby) to come and clean, it goes under all the recliners and gets all that latent fluff that seems to congregate under there!

The biggest question mark is reliability with all of these.. Dreame say 3 years warranty on their website so hopefully will sort it out should it go wrong..

The base is pretty large on the L40, but it has very large water tanks, so if mopping more frequently (and in Spain, that might be a thing!) it just means emptying it less often.. we put ours in the corner of a room which has white walls, so it actually blends in very well..
