So are you getting a 7970 or waiting for Kepler?

Im going to vegas on 20/02 I wonder if a 7970 will be much cheaper in USA

Maybe, but legally you should declare it at Customs and pay VAT and any other applicable duties.

You may also have problems if you ever need to use the warranty.

Think I shall wait, currently have HIS 6950 unlocked. Hopefully Kepler comes out around my birthday :). Also I want to go Nvidia to try the CUVID stuff with LAV filters.

Most likely a pair or trio of whatever replaces the 3gb 580's. GTX 680? GTX 780?

May even go for a pair of 7990's or gtx790's in a compact matx setup. I love 2560x1440 w/ maxed out settings so either way the gpu's need memory to match. (I've seen evidence of a possible 6GB 7970 from sapphire)

This is only if there are appreciable gains over my sli 480+460 setup but I've got rather bored of how long I've had all my hardware. :p

I'll have to wait for more benchmarks to appear. Might be slightly cheaper for me to hop into Crossfire than sell-up and upgrade, but will totally depend on the performance figures and price-points to be honest...

I'm still undecided myself, but I think I might wait for Kepler and make an informed decision then. Just hoping they'll release some info at CES.

Here's me hoping I won't impulse buy tomorrow!

69xx series arrived before the 5x0 series. The prices of the 69xx series did not really change at all (maybe ~£50 IIRC) when the Nvidia came out.

This means if the 79xx series are selling for £400(+++) then Nvidia will market it even higher, since they believe they are a premium brand.

In short, new GFX just became cripplingly expensive for Joe Public.

Waiting to see what Kepler has to offer, currently using a GTX 580 @ 1920 x 1200 and seems to run everything I throw at it fine. I won't be going for SLI 580's if Kepler does not show great gains but will wait till a GPU shows it's worth updating and if software (games) show they require more GPU horse power by then.

Really looking to update. My 5970 just don't cut it with BF3! Every other bit of my system is all top end at the moment, just need to get a new GPU. But then again it might be a lot cheaper just to wait a month for 7950... Who knows!

Waiting to see what Kepler offers. At the very least it should result in significant price drops for the 7900 ramge. My current card doesn't really struggle with anything, and it's silly buying toys just for the sake of it.

If I purchase a 7900 tomorrow, I know damned well that I'll also buy Kepler in 3-4 months time. It's just not worth losing £150-£200 for 3 months of slightly faster fps. I am hoping that Kepler offers a lot more than AMD's current 20% boost over my 580.

A £450 stop-gap card just doesn't do it for me, and I would end up feeling like a right mupper if AMD release 2300 shader refresh in a few months.

If you want the latest stuff, sure. A 6950 and 6970 can still handle all games max fine at 1080p and below. I don't think that will change soon, either, not until the next gen consoles come out. Outside a few games nothing pushes the envelope these days.

I'm getting a 7970 but only because I game at 2560x1600.
