So did Nvidia screw everyone over with the MSRP of the 3080?

Not from what I can see tbh, been on the Discord etc and twice on the UK site from what I have seen have there been the 3080FE's come in.

They were sold more than twice on the Nvidia store even before moving to the big UK retailer. In fact, when I bought mine on September 24th that was the second time they had been in stock.

So yes, definitely more than twice.

Fair enough, all I can say is I have only seen the alert twice for them since launch and haven't once managed to get an alert on time for either of those. I can only go by what I have seen myself.

It's just insane demand, mate. Look at the consoles, the AMD cards, the AMD CPUs. Have you seen the price of dogs? Yep, you read that right... Dogs! It's mental, webcams are also like gold dust. We couldn't get toilet roll at one point!

I had actually secured 2 Xbox pre-orders when I experienced the 3080 launch. I was so disappointed that I was more than happy to go console rather than get sucked in with the scalper prices (and I'm not just talking about eBay). Thankfully, I got lucky with the first 3080 drop after launch.

There's been a few bizarre events took place in 2020 and this consumer feeding frenzy is definitely one of them. This is not a case of Nvidia screwing everyone over.

Oh never thought Nvidia screwing over or anything. Just struggling to actually get anything and need something for work, be it a 3080, 6800XT or 6900XT I don't mind but yeah. Can't push to a 3090FE cause it over the budget but at moment I am using a friends 5700XT to tie me over and it hasn't really got enough RAM for what I am doing these days. In fact tbh the 3080FE might be close but it better than nothing at that point. Just frustrating having a £3k paperweight without a CPU or GPU in it and running the old system that is struggling every day.

lol just got home and dropped my new iPhone and the screen smashed.... strongest glass ever? ********. £1200 down the drain.

you don't have contents insurance? How do you even live?

Im sorry guys but people who buy expensive items and can't even cough up to insure the stuff in their home needs to go back to school cause your priorities need some work.

In the interim I suggest you go buy a brand new bmw and then crash it and complain cause you don't have insurance

I don’t insure anything unless I have to like car insurance.
There is a Russian saying “ Those who don’t risk don’t drink champagne”
:p
Somehow I never managed to crack a screen on any of my phones.

maybe I'm just risk adverse but if I didn't have insurance I wouldn't be buying expensive stuff that I'm not happy to lose from damage/or being stolen etc

The chat is that Nvidia's msrp isn't possible after Nvidia, the AIB manufacturer, the distributor and the retailer take their cut on the AIB 3080's. Make of that what you will.

I got a 3080FE last week when they dropped so it is still possible!

Or buy a thing called a phone case, for a slippery phone.

What do people expect a glass/ceramic phone to do when dropped at the wrong angle?? Its brittle, and won't absorb shocks well like rubber and plastic.

Its why military ruggedised hardware is a combination of metal, polymers and rubber.

I have home insurance because requirement for mortgage company and car/motorcycle insurance as it a requirement but never had any other insurance tbh.

I wouldnt worry about 3080 prices and Nvidia ripping you off, sounds like Apple did it already. £1200........... for a phone .

Woulda been better off getting a cheaper phone and still had enough money for a scalped 3080.

I don't have contents insurance because I can afford to replace things if the get stolen/broken.

99% of the time people spend more money on insurance rather than just replacing stuff.
