So I went for dinner at Gordon Ramsey at Claridges

There are no other people in the restaurant.

And this is the photo the restaurant manager took of us, he saw the camera on the table and offered to take it, he obviously wasn't bothered either.
I won't reply any more on the subject of photos, we obviously have different views on the subject.
I'm happy I took the photos and have a record of the evening.

You have every right to take pictures which you feel is a very special moment to you after all that is what a camera is for eh!!

Nothing wrong with photos - just the flash, which can be incredibly irritating. By all means take your photos, turn the flash off though.

Suppose the lighting in the restaurant wasn't bright enough and the photos without flash came out dark/underexposed? Assuming you're using a compact camera.

then up the iso, open the aperture and reduce the shutter speed to suit the available light

Then you'll be slated for having a **** camera and told to buy an Olympus PE1 if you want a compact camera. ;)

cheers for sharing one of my mates on ts now said he enjoyed it but to me personally i see value and what id get and i dont think its worth it to me. ive been to a few decent resturants and its not cost anything near that but it hasnt been of that high standard.

im a bit old school nice good full plate of nice cooked beef with all the trimmings . if you enjoyed it though thats all that matters.

:D

No, but people like to pick on us for some reason, especially snotty people who think they're better than everybody else ;)

:D

I swear Lysander was an Emo kid when he first started posting on this forum, not some Posh Snob.
I may be mistaken but i swear im right

Nothing has changed on either count. Neither "emo kid" nor "posh snob" as you term them.

Lysander, I think most people (myself included) appreciate the OP's photos and that he shared an experience many of us will not have had (yet).

It's nice to see how the other half lives, so to speak. I can't see anything wrong with taking a few snaps in a place like that. You're hardly going to offend anyone are you. And if people want to look down on you because of it - let them. They're idiots, but their heads are probably too far up their own backsides to see it.

Anyway, stop being a troll.

I cant believe this. An OcUK'er goes to all that trouble to post photos and an excellent write-up of his special experience and we get trolls saying he's a chav or whatever for doing it?

Grow the **** up please. Poor guy must be thinking he embarrassed himself at the restaurant or feeling dead bad thinking he disturbed everyone with his flash.

There wasnt even anyone in the restaurant!

Tbh, i'd feel bad about using a flash if it was packed to capacity, but if it was just my party or me and a few other tables, I dont think it would be that bad!

If it was, wouldnt the restaurant staff say something, to which i'd reply "Sorry, this is quite a one off experience for me, no worries though, sorry for the bother!"

Whats happened recently, has the snow turned 90% of people on here mental?

Personally I wouldn't use a flash if there was anyone else there. But there wasn't, so people saying it's chavvy as it disturbs other diners can take it back now.

Thanks for the pics op.

I went there a few weeks back and I thought it was amazing, very similiar to your menu and we were at the chefs table. I got to the plate up the John Dory dish for our party, staff were very friendly and nice. Highly recommened the chefs table.

So much snotty arrogance in this thread. I'm sorry it's turned out like that chipperhead :(

Looks like an amazing meal and better than I've ever had. Would love to go there one day.

I went to MacDonalds for the 1st time in nine years last Thursday.

I had the Quarter pounder with cheese Signature dish and took the option to "go large."

It was individually wrapped and presented on a plastic tray with a sheet of a4 paper on it.

The French fries were piping hot and covered in a sodium chloride crystalline dust that was very pleasing to the taste.

The Quarter pounder with the cheese was in a presentation box. Expertly cooked by local chefs and garnished with a combination of red and yellow sauces. It was also festooned with sliced green pickles and white onion that had been sautéed but was still perfectly crunchy. Over all the Quater pounder with cheese was however average.

To wash it down i had a classic 50/50 mix of Ice and Coca Cola flavoured syrup and carbonated water. It didn't disappoint.

At this point I Realised that i had spent about £3.90 on this meal and thought i would push the boat out and asked the waiter, a scruffy looking 17 year old boychild, for an "apple pie" The deep fried golden pillow filled with heated up wallpaper paste and the occasional chunk of apple was luke warm but again acceptable.

Overall my dining experience was acceptable and surprisingly identical to my previous memories from some 10+ years ago.

I was lucky to book and reserve the seats at the same time as when the schools had to been closed for snow days, if it wasn't for the 50 or so feral chav kids and single mums with screaming babies, i probably wouldn't have enjoyed it as much as i did.

On reflection however, whilst returning to work i walked past the local ale house and noticed a sign, ANY BEER AND HOT WRAP OF YOUR CHOICE £4.99, I will be investigating this in the future and it is most unlikely i will not be returning to MR McDonald's establishment any time within the next 20 years.

In reference to photos in restaurants, I think it's ok if the flash is off and is done discreetly, I don't really appreciate flashes that I can notice when i'm dining and having conversation. There is at time and place and i'm sure as long as you show a bit of respect it's fine, i've taken the odd phone photo of a couple of unusual looking dishes that I know friends would be interested in and of course a group/party dining it's acceptable to have group photos taken.

Looking down on someone for doing so is laughable really though, especially as the restaurant looks near enough empty!
