So my 8mth old Cat got run over......

The other half's cat has been hit by 2 cars now, and he's bounced back. First time into the path of another car, but hey. I think he's learned his lesson now.

First time his leg was dislocated, and had to be reset. It kept popping out, so they shaved the ball off the end of the leg and set it against the pelvis, that put him out for a good few weeks and like yours he had trouble passing water. As he did second time around, in fact he passed blood eventually due to the bruising and the swelling.

They are extremely resilient, and his age will weigh in his favour. I'd give him another 24-48 hours before doing anything else, keep him dosed up and comfortable and leave him be just checking in every now and then.

Thoughts are with you all mate, hoping for the best.

If he's made it 24 hours surely this is a good sign and if he's drugged up again surely he's not in too much pain either. I'd wait for the vets to decide before doing anything.

If a cat doesn't eat for 24hours'ish they almost always develop a problem with their liver. I can't remember the specifics but it's the reason why you don't starve your cat/kitten when trying to move them onto a different food.

I wouldn't say that, depending on the breed then him still growing is not good.

Thanks for the thoughts & considered replys guys, he's just had approx 12ml of water via a 1ml syringe, he seems dehydrated (pulling his fur, it does not spring back into place) but his eyes are bright, his ears up & hes attentive of whats going on around him.

Its not been 24hours yet, so I am most likely going with the option of keeping his appointment with the vets in the morning.
The emergency vet we visited yesterday did say we could return with him anytime, regardless of time, so that option is still open.

For context, here he is in his temporary cage - a childs travel cot!

Thank you all for the thoughts & replys, very much appreciated.

My Mother in Laws cat was only a few months old when he was hit by a car. The poor bugger lost a leg BUT pulled through and it doesn't bother him at all now. It maybe seem cruel to hang on and see if he makes it but in my opinion its even more cruel not to give the little fella a chance?

If I was hit by a car and in a bad way, I'd hope somebody wouldn't euthanize me on the off chance I wouldn't make it.

Best of luck, stay strong because he doesn't seem so bad in the pictures, hope he pulls through!

P.S total sig bomb in the post above me. :p

Hope he pulls through, lovely cat, my ex lost 2 cats in similar circumstances, being a main road though they didn't stand a chance.

To make it over 24 hours though I think kitty may just be lucky and still have 8 lives left, shock is probably why he/she hasn't been wee wee yet.

Hope he pulls through, one of ours was hit unfortunately the other night, didn't find him until the next morning, broken leg and frozen solid :(

Dont forget cats are very clean so he is unlikely to want to wee where he is sat unless its a last resort. I would give him the chance and keep the appointment tomorrow.
