****.
Last night was dreadful, and incredibly frustrating.
Wednesday started slowly (as per), but could not get going at all in the first half, despite this the MK Dons were poor in the first half too, having a lot of the ball and little pressure on them they were still unable to create much, be productive.
Second half, Wednesday were flying. Dominated the entire second half. Creating chance after chance. Throughout the match the MK Dons were poor, the time wasting was unbelievable, their goalkeeper was literally having a drink instead of taking goal kicks to time waste and got nothing more than a wave from the referee to hurry up...
Anyway; twenty shots, hit the cross bar twice, hit the post twice... just so frustrated that Wednesday could not take at least one chance.
The match finished on a bitter note too, the MK Dons had been awful all match, time wasting, kicking the ball away, etcetera... however while Foresteri was incorrectly booked for diving (it was an absolutely ridiculous booking, he was hacked down) the MK Dons tried to take a 'quick' free kick, although I have the feeling it was just more time wasting - anyway, resulted in Wallace being sent off. I didn't quite see it, but I did see the MK Dons player in a mid air like somersault and pretend to be quite literally on the verge of death. The referee had made his mind up about the red card before talking to his officials (despite not seeing the incident at all, as he was arguing about the dive), he went for his pocket, then engaged in a conversation with the officials and then sent Wallace off.
Following this, the MK Dons bench were going mental over every decision against Wednesday asking for more cards, the referee had no control over the game for the final 15-20 minutes. The MK Dons bench were arguing with the crowd and then a Wednesday fan punched / pushed a player on the bench, which resulted in the bench punching stewards and the MK Dons manager wading in to the crowd to argue with a woman (who had literally done nothing but it was easier than arguing with the blokes I suppose). Not condoning what the crowd did (I sit close to the dugout), but the MK Dons bench were guilty of bad behaviour towards the crowd too. Expect Wednesday will get some sort of fine over it.
Lee Bullen went postal at the end of the match too, the referee was (once again) absolutely terrible.
I cannot fathom how English football can have delusions about being an elite European league while maintaining such a poor level of officials. Officials which, at times, look amateur.
