So, the Championship season has started **Spoilers**

Disappointing night for Wednesday last night.

I thought Brentford played quite well first half, their plan worked well. However, the referee had an absolute nightmare. One of the worst performances I have seen. Blatant penalty ignored; only for Brentford to score from an identical 'foul' minutes later. How one was a foul, and the other not is still confusing. Similarly, Brentford's second goal came from a corner (still not convinced it came off a Wednesday player) and there was a push on Sasso while the corner was coming in. Referee missed an off the ball incident, arm to the face, with no card. Furth more was happy to book a Wednesday player minutes later for a far less serious offence. Missed another clear penalty in the second half. The Brentford bench seemed as confused/amused at the refusal for the penalties as the Wednesday crowd/bench were frustrated. Awful, Awful refereeing performance. If he's ever allowed to referee professionally again it will be a shame.

I also was disappointed that when a Brentford player was injured (was stretchered off) that it was the players who signalled for the first aid, not the referee, who had seemingly not noticed.

Poor performance from Wednesday, in a match that we did enough to get three points from but in reality we did not deserve to win. I'd have argued that we deserved the point.

Love Henry too, great left back. Really wish Wednesday would have moved for him in the summer #FootballManagerHero

Good to hear we played well. Only missed 5 away games this season... we've won 4 of those and I've not seen us win outside of London in almost 10 months!

Saw the first half penalty decision, could easily have been given but FF seems to throw himself back in to HD in a similar manner that Vardy used to last season. You still see them given, but maybe FF's reputation is preventing refs from making decisions.

We had the exact same last week away at Reading, even Stam said they were stonewall. I'm happy for crap decisions to go in our favour after some good performances but few points in recent weeks. Looked like a bit of a bombardment for the last 20 minutes but we held on. Good luck in the POs :)

First half; Absolutely shaded it. Thought for the opening 15-20 minutes Brentford started well, high temp, pressed high/hard. First to every ball, kept the ball moving, and simple play. Wednesday came in to the game more after that, but through some truly bizarre refereeing decisions; momentum was difficult to get going.

On the penalty; I thought it was a clear penalty, especially after Fessi had just 'done' the defender. However, even if you thought it was soft, then the freekick which Brentford scored from was soft(er) and identical. So either one was a foul, so the other was, or none were. Appalling decision making from the referee. Honestly he was terrible. It's hard to put in to words, he was slow with decisions, indecisive, the official on the side closest to me did not flag for anything other then once the referee had given a decision (throw-ins which ever way, et cetera). Had it been a draw, or Wednesday win, I would still be complaining, it was an abhorrent performance.

Second half, all Wednesday, Brentford sat deep and attempted to counter, rarely did much (though had a good chance early on in the second half) but Wednesday just could not find a way through. Poor from Wednesday. As I said, a score draw would have been a 'fair' result, but that was mainly due to the two penalty decisions, free kick, et cetera that the referee did not give. Wednesday were certainly not good enough to win.

Brentford need to maintain the first half, of the first half performance wise and it will be a super comfortable finish to the season.

I just do not understand the referee, I was even annoyed and shouted as much (not that I normally do) about the Brentford player being injured, the referee barely noticed. It was (Bannan) definitely a Wednesday player who waved the medical team on, then more players (both sets) then the referee. I mean, for gods sake, a serious injury is a serious injury. He barely noticed.

It genuinely annoys me; English football has an incredible amount of money within its administration and leagues and these 'officials' are the best, best, that they have?

If people performed that badly in their work, they would be in danger of losing their job.

+1

I can't comment on some of the referees I've seen this season at Elland Road, as I don't want to seem biased. However, I do have a season ticket at my local club, Oxford United (League 1) and some of the referees they get are absolutely woeful. It's mad how at professional level the FL cannot seem to get competent officials.

Very happy. Comfortable win against a supposedly top side. Murphy motm for me.

Wouldn't be surprised if Reading fell right away tbh.

I was actually worried about that game... Now on to a big one on Tuesday against Newcastle!

As a neutral it's going to be a brilliant game. Plently of games left, but do you reckon this'll decide who'll be champions?

I can't say that. I know it will be a good game though. Sometimes in this situation both teams can be cautious and the game ends up being poor, bit o can guarantee that will not be the case on Tuesday!

If we do win, I think it guarantees us top 3,and that is as far as I will go at this time :p

Also it is on TV. Unusual for a Tuesday game. I think they must have made an exception because the game has been rearranged quite a lot and was originally supposed to be a TV game.

I'm hoping Brighton score first so Newcastle have to come out on the attack - I think that'll make for the better game. Lots of points left to play for, but I have a gut feeling this'll decide who'll be champions. I still think top two is already decided, even with Town on such a run.

The only change I can see in top 6 is Fulham sneaking in, we have a massive game coming up next Tuesday at Craven Cottage!

Massive game tonight, really nervous.

I'm not convinced it will decide the championship title but there's no doubting it's a six-pointer.

I feel like there's more pressure on Newcastle and I'm not convinced with our current form (and Brighton's) that we've going to do it…

Fingers crossed and Howay the lads!

Wouldn't be surprised if Reading fell right away tbh.

I was at the game (also a Reading season ticket holder), very frustrating as Reading really offered very little and were terrible all over. That takes nothing away from Brighton who were organised, tactically great as they patiently waited for the time to rip us to bits and it worked.

We have Wolves this weekend and then Newcastle next Tuesday at home - where there will be 4000 topless geordies screaming the place down.

Most sensible Reading fans know that we are building a team at the moment and if we can keep Jaap Stam then next season or the season after we could be absolutely solid and achieve the ultimate aim of promotion. Play offs would be good but if we miss out I wouldn't be too disappointed, it's a gut wrenching experience.

I do think we will finish in the play offs. Mainly as Derby I feel are inconsistent, Fulham look really good though and they are a threat.
