That makes me think about SAS selection, where the SAS do not tell candidates where their headquarters are, or how to get there. On the basis that if the candidates can't work something that simple out for themselves, they are hardly special forces material.branddaly said:I've been stunned by the fact my missus, who is a librian, has spent the last week doing inductions for the Uni students.
This involves teaching the students how to use a library. Now I know that standards are supposely dropping, but I thought they'd at least know how to loan a book.
So I guess if some of them can't do that then its not a wonder that some of them don't know what essays and reports are.

There's computers which you can use to locate the book you want, but when you want to loan a book you have to use your swipe card, login with a touch screen computer, place your book on a mat (which probably uses RFID or something) to automatically read the books information then you continue going through the menus selecting how long you want to loan it for. Once done you're issued a receipt.
When you want to return it (automatic email reminders \o/) you do the same thing (swipe card, login) and a little hole in the wall unlocks for you to push the book through. Magic.
The first time I had to use it was slightly confusing.

Well put that man.cleanbluesky said:[sarcasm aimed at liberals]
No, he's joined the racism... because otherwise he wouldn't notice their colour, let alone care because he is a racist.
I've worked with non-whites and I can say that they're all smarter, nicer, taller, harder-working, and various other things that boost my sense of self satistfaction if I say them about people I think are inherently different from me... look how decent I am, becasue I can be socially generous to ethnic minorities...
