So this whole clown craze...

The media is just breathing life into this crap.

Why couldn't it have been Tron suits, thatd be way cooler

The way i read it implied the clown was wielding the knife to scare the guy

Yeah that's what I mean. Elrasho rolling his eyes as if it's the victims fault.

Well I would say medias fault for making it seem far more than what it is. Clown clearly trying to just freak the guy out, freaked out guy knee jerk reaction was to grab the knife, which you can only paint as a natural reaction if anything.

What are you even on, why would he carry a real knife anyway? Victim blaming isn't nice.

I think you're misunderstanding the issue here.

Happy to be corrected but before we completely spaz out, what part of the story have i got wrong?

Here is my Read:

-Clown had knife to scare the guy

-Guy got scared and tried to grab the knife to point it away

-Guy cut hands as the knife handle was held by the clown

-Media portrays story as if the clown intended to harm the guy using the title of the article.

What victim blaming?

You seem to be putting to much emphasis on the guys reaction to grabbing the bloody knife when he thought his life was in danger, no where did I see you question the pilocks reason for even being out in a clown getup, with a real knife to boot.

We don't do rational things when we're scared, it's a fight or flight situation - as demonstrated here. Yet you focusing on the wrong things is really bizarre, don't know what your issue is.

There is no issue, i am not putting ANY blame on the guy. I even said his reaction was natural

You reading far too much into my comment. Tell me where i blamed the victim for anything.

I blame the media primarily for making this seem appealing and glorifying the acts.

The clown is an idiot for having a real knife but surely we dont need to comment on the intelligence of every clown that comes up during this craze. These clowns are all idiots simply for doing this.

Do i have to start saying other obvious things such as that they are not real clowns

Maybe blame the guy 'scaring' people with a knife?

Cant wait for the next xxx was murdered thread to put the valuable input of 'Pretty sure the murderer was at fault'

I am commenting on the clown craze as is the thread discussion and how individual incidents like that affect the popularity of the clown craze.

So where is this victim blaming?

Or you seem completely unaware how stupid your comment was and now you're backpedaling.

No, i admit i thought 'guy' in the following quote referred to the victim.

Why was the guy carrying a knife?

But then he clarified he was referring to the clown. Its really a non discussion at that point. Not much else to say on that matter. The following points refer back to the original post of the media title being misleading. I didnt discuss the blame of the incident at all, just blame of the media POST incident and linked it to how these crazes become popular.

Yes, the media is reporting so people are aware there are little scrotes out there trying to be scary in a clown getup, some could be playing it as a joke or actually try to harm people. Doesn't matter if he grabbed the knife, he is still responsible - there are plenty of fake halloween-themed knives in the shops now.

Where's all this clown stuff come from? Where did it originate and why is it so widespread? It doesn't make sense to me.. It was the US first and now in Guatamale, Aus, Midlands, Exeter afaik.

Well no, most media outlets are reporting it because it makes people read their articles. I am sure some stories are published to inform people. Businesses like supermarkets will respond to the increase in customers by stocking more of the product. That does not stop the fact that these guys are idiots and a real knife will fulfil their personal want to look scary, more than a safer fake knife.

If the media only wanted to inform people, it would not embellish the headlines and use misleading titles. This stops the craze fading as much as informs the public.

I think it started with IT viral marketing and just ballooned out of control. Now the film company behind it says they aren't responsible for starting it due to the negative events which has come out of it.
