• Competitor rules

Please remember that any mention of competitors, hinting at competitors or offering to provide details of competitors will result in an account suspension. The full rules can be found under the 'Terms and Rules' link in the bottom right corner of your screen. Just don't mention competitors in any way, shape or form and you'll be OK.

So what do you buy now?

what's forcing them to release 7nm next year? if they've been able to keep flogging the 10 series for 2 years then why do we all think they'll scrap the present series so quickly? The longer they can keep developing the 7nm chips the better the yield (and ultimately profits) at its launch, so why rush things if there's little competition to force their hand?

We can't write off the 20 series until (independent) benchmarks are released. Nvidia obviously can't push their performance too heavily at the moment (or even bother pricing competitively), if they've got a load of 10 series cards they still need to offload, so in a similar mindset, I imagine stock will be limited for a while after launch to keep people looking at the 10 series.

I'd be surprised if AMD can topple 1080Ti performance next year, let alone 2080 or 2080Ti, NVIDIA really have no competition at the top now. I am sure NVIDIA have many options up their sleave should they need too, I mean they could use GDDR6X, it is available, but suspect we shall see that on a Titan or professional level product first, before consumer.
Intel won't be ready with anything until 2020 time and no one knows how good or a disaster that will be.

In short NVIDIA will be owning the top level for some years to come, guess that means they can do as they wish. Would be great to see some competition but I think all AMD can do is try to give us some good alternatives at the 1060 - 1080 levels and play their FREESYNC card.

Also lets remember GDDR6 is new, its expensive, next year it will reduce in price for sure which should see 2000 series become better priced, even better of course as well if the pound gains strength, will also help as one would think and hope the pound can only recover from where it is now, I hope so anyway.

I was in the airport changing some GBP to euro, £60 got me 55 euro's I was like you gotta be kidding, of course airport rates and all that, but were now in a time where you get less euros than pounds, I remember a couple of years back getting 140 euro for my £100, how times change. :(

I only bought my 1080Ti late last year so in no rush to upgrade unless there's a significant jump in performance. Some rumours that the performance of 2xxx is better than expected but since a lot think it's going to be garbage that's not hard to achieve.

I'll stick with my Vega 64, should be fine at 1440p. Glad I went Curved 1440p instead of 4K (I can highly recommend a curved monitor as one of the greatest gaming upgrades I have made so far, it just works).

Can't see any new games worth buying until Cyberpunk anyway. Enjoying older games now and there are quite a few I had missed (you did too!). Some great older games around (that are not even that old) that do not require next gen gpus and they're cheaper now too (plus they actually work properly, unlike new releases).

Most new games now are all graphics over gameplay anyway - all fur coat and no knickers! :D

That first line. I suspect you're right. Very likely Nvidia will wait until the right moment as with pascal to Turing rather than arbitrarily release it next year, just because.

What is a guy who is involved in, and clearly skilled at, dealing with finance, trade, importing and currency doing buying cash at the airport?

I don't normally carry cash, but realised I neede to grab a taxi so needed 50 euro for cab ride, so just grabbing some to cover the cab ride to castle NVIDIA, they might pay my 1000 euro per night suite, but not my damn cab, tight gits. :D

AMD's poor performance at the top means Nvidia don't even feel the need to say how much faster the RTX cards are compared to the 10 series during their unveil presentation.

It's a pretty poor show on the competitive front and just bad for the PC platform in general. People are already jumping over to consoles.

I will be going with XBOX One X then the newest XBOX when it comes out in 2020 I think. I feel that I shall perhaps get a mid range computer with a high res display on, maybe some sort of Surface Book and gaming will be on consoles. I feel the Xbox One X currently you can't justify a PC. The power of an Xbox One X is only 0.5Tflops away from a GTX1070.

Yeah, still a great price. Lowest I've seen second hand has been more around the £500 mark

Seen a few go for less than that if you put the time in nothing else to do but browse whilst on a sunny beach that had Wifi ! :) Cant say anymore risk the wrath.
