So what's your policy about giving money to homeless people?

I ignore them and I don't feel guilty. They are homeless and begging on the street because they are losers and vagabonds. I don't believe in giving away my hard earned cash to losers and vagabonds.

So ALL homeless people are losers and vagabonds are they? It's so easy to end up on the street and once you're there it's very hard to get out of it. We all think councils/organisations/charities provide help but until you're actually in that position yourself you'll wonder where all the help actually is.

I generally ignore, as they're mostly scag/crackheads in Nottingham. I also found out several beggers in Nottingham have homes and families they go back to, but they beg to fund their drug addictions, so I'd never give money.

The only money I would give is to those who sell the Big Issue, as they are meant to be the ones trying to do something about their situation. That said, I rarely buy the big issue these days.

I dont generally do it but once when walking through town back when I was about 16 or so I use to smoke so was a bit away with it and a guy selling the big issue goes "buy your weed here". So obviously I turn and look thinking what on earth the guy then turns and says "now I got your attention buy the big issue" I thought you crafty bugger how can I not now :P

After coming back form a weekend business trip in Rome, I am of the opinion they should be rounded up for medical testing and placed into forced labour camps where they can get a roof over their heads and food for a solid 80 hour working week. Any bum refusing this can be shot.

I've got to echo the comment by lowrider about those that have mental health issues - there are some people who aren't there by choice and get stuck in a cycle, or don't know any better because they don't have the mental capacity. You need to distance this from tramps and crackheads really.

I won't give to alcosmelling tramps or those clearly abusing drugs, because it's kinder not to fuel their habit at the end of the day. I will happily give to entertaining buskers and those homeless I make a snap judgment on as being worthwhile.

A homeless guy in brighton recently didn't ask me for anything but I walked past with the g/f and half a pizza we'd literally just come of out Pizza Hut with, I walked back and said 'hope you don't think i'm odd, but would you like some pizza?' he was genuinely overwhelmed and really polite, and when i walked back past ten minutes later, there he was, tucking into it.

Having come into contact with homeless people with mental health issues through volunteering and working with young people who become homeless, I can tell a lot of you now that you are very wrong about your uneducated thoughts about a decent percentage of these people.

And try getting benefits without an address...

you cant really say ALL of them in the same way not ALL black folk like chicken

theres obviously different situations these people are in

but no, i dont give

i feel lots of guilt so i usually give them whatever change i have in my pocket.
Either that or any food i have on me.

in the back of my mind...i know i am being duped i guess...

Its a shame the practice of 18th century evil scientists enticing vagrants to be part of degrading human experiments for the price of a farthing seems to have gone out of fashion. They'd make a killing these days.

I can't stand them Belfast is plagued by a few familys of Romanian beggers, all you get out of them is "big issue, please, please, big issue" or they pretend to play a recordian(sp)? Nearly ever street has one of them on it, hanging around bus stops, restaurants, cash points or charity shops.

I love nothing better than when walking past, putting my hand into my pocket pull out some change and reply to there "Big issue chant" no thank you.

The old drunks don't bother me to much I feel sorry for them but never give them any thing.
