You misunderstand. To post in SC you need an IQ of 85 or less.

No, seriously, there's nothing special about SC. I see no difference in posting quality between here and GD.

I suspect the real reason SC exists is to limit discussion of "sensitive" topics to those with a bit of posting history. But don't think it's all that. It's just GD but with more entrenched positions and less humour.
