So who's pre-ordered a Core I7 then?

Well my local City Link guy is awesome, always early in the morning and comes around back to the office and finds me.
In the past things sent via DHL from Europe have had things 'missing' from the box. On more than one occasion!

Just hope it all gets here ok!

What's the deal with the prices of the triple channel kits?

Over the past couple of months most manufacturers have been saying that the new low voltage triple packs would be cheaper than the current twin packs £/GB... but the prices don't seem to reflect this!

I have one question guys. will the current Intel 1366 X58 Motherboards and the ones that will be coming out in the next 5 months should be compatible with Intel's Westmere as well? The reason why i'm asking is because Westmere is supposed to be for Intel 1366 X58 and I really don`t fancy having to purchase another Motherboard just to be able to upgrade to this new processor when it comes out.

Thank you for the response.

The future is never certain, but Westmere is the tick to the Nehalem tock, so it is only a die shrink (though it will probably have some improvement too) and is expected to use the same LGA1366 socket.

Also, let me introduce you to Wikipedia and Google. ;)

Just had a look at around 10 reviews on the i7, looks like they are worse than core 2 for games :/

Guess everyone knows this allready, but i'm defo not going for it just yet because of this, it would be a down-grade for me.

worse? how is that possible?

if that is true i will completely forget about i7.

Was not going to but just dropped £1.3K on a I7-965 + Gigabyte Mobo + Triple Channel Ram. Will not get it until Tuesday but can wait until then!

I'm on a Athlon 64 system at the moment and been waiting for these. Although i must admit, the prices are very steep. Just drawn up this spec:

(using some parts from my current rig.

Very tempted to click the "buy" button.

But also very tempted to wait..

Is it just me that keeps getting into a look of "waiting for the next big thing?" Ie i've held off getting a C2D for these and now im planning on holding off again to see how prices are in a couple of months..........and repeat.

HI there

I've done some testing today on the Asus P6T Deluxe to see what our own Triple Channel kits can do.

I am please with the following results:-

1600MHz CL8-8-8-16-1T with just 1.6v (No airflow over memory)
1866MHz CL9-9-9-24-2T with just 1.7v (No airflow over memory)

What this means is that the OcUK kits will run quite happily upto 1800MHz with voltage remaining around the 1.65v region pretty much making these the quickest kits available for Intel Core I7 platforms.

The kits do come with Corsair Dominator fans and for those who are happy to push the voltage up I have had these past 2000MHz with 2.0v going through them and yes my CPU still lives.

This is the top of the line CellShock memory and is targeted at enthusiasts and high end gamers. These memory Kits are based on very best chips, which enables it to run at notably higher speeds or more aggressive timings than its official specification. The 1866 kits have been tested specifically on the new Intel X58 Chipset achieving memory speeds beyond 1900 MHz with 999 timings and 1800 MHz with 888 timings. This additional overclocking headroom enables users to push their memory and their cpu and mainboards to the limit, achieving new performance heights. While working closely with enthusiasts, hardware experts, mainboard manufacturers and reviewers around the world, we came to the conclusion that the fastest possible System configuration that can be achieved is an Northbridge FSB of 4000Mhz with a memory speed pushing past 2000Mhz with 9-9-9 timings. This configuration is possible with Intel Extreme Core i7 Processors with moderate voltage levels, which are only recommended for short periods. The 1866 Kits are equipped with our well known massive Aluminium Heatspreaders, this time in a beautiful metallic-blue and silver combination, and instead of thick thermal pads thermal grease is used to ensure optimum cooling. This 6GB Kit is approved and pre-tested by OcUK and is compatible with Asus P6T Deluxe (6GB Configuration), all kits are pre-tested at OcUK for Tri-DDR compatibility with Intel and Asus mainboards. We recommend you run these kits at speeds of 1600-1800MHz with below 1.7v for 24/7 running to prevent damage to your I7 processor. In our own testing we found 1600MHz with timings of 8-8-8-20-1T to be stable with just 1.60-1.65v in the Asus P6T mainboards. Running 1800MHz between 1.65-1.75 voltage is also possible with 9-9-9-24-2T timngs. High speeds and more aggressive timings does require going past 1.8v which is not recommended for 24/7 running.

Anyone who was not so impressed with current memory offerings now have an alternative if your seeking the ultimate in bandwidth and performance. :)

Can also now confirm works just fine with the Cellshocks on the Rampage II. :)

Am pushing a few more volts through than Gibbo at the moment, will try lowering it down in a while.

Tri-SLi.... gotta get that running first.
