So WTF was Quake III Arena about then?

I agree in every case bar Gears of War. But then Im a PC gamer primarily, so i would! :p

Even for consoles, I thought Halo was pants, I had much more fun on eg. Serious Sam on PS2.
Gears of War is a 3rd Person shooter though, not an FPS :p

I think Halo was good for sitting around and playing with your mates. I've never played it single player but it's great for co-op. That's something a PC just isn't suited to, or at least not with someone in the same room as you.

I beg to differ. We use the 3 PCs in the office (2 are my dad's admittedly) for fun all the time.

Plus with consoles, you don't get 32 player Serious Sam coop! Now THAT'S what I call fun!

That's if you have that many PCs all in one place. I have 2 PCs that can handle gaming (and one is a few years old now) and they aren't in the same room.

I like how this turned into a Halo bashing thread.

Do you mind if I disagree with all you guys and found Halo 1 far far better than any of the FPS that came out on the PC in the last ten years? Have fun feeling annoyed at my opinion ;)

I think it's a pretty great game in "single player" mode too. The game itself loads in seconds (I <3 John Carmack) so it's great for a quick pick up and play, even only for 5 minutes you can get something done instead of sitting through cutscenes and the like (something I loved about Doom and Duke3D and the like)

The bots are pretty good too, It's great fun trying to complete it on Nightmare :)

Yep, thats what i liked about it, was good for a quick game in your spare time. :)

And also quick to get online for a Mplayer game. Unlike BF2 for example where you have to sit through cut scenes and takes forever to load and connect.

As far back as I can remember I remember launching the game and just shooting random bots and completing the objectives. Like for example:
"You must kill at least two creatures"
Then it would go on to say
"You must kill at least four creatures"

What was the point behind it? How did they manage to make a sequal behind it? Oh, same question applies to Unreal Tournament as well :)

Fun game with hardly any/no story line. Not all games need a story line or a point :)

q3a was a great multiplayer game loved the physics in it with the mid rocket kills and different things. imo ut99 was much better I ended up playing that for almost 5 years online!!
