Solar panel production figures

Solax was borked again yesterday.

Having to estimate, I am going with 14kwh yesterday. Was around 9-10 at 4pm but we had some nice sun after that, so its my best estimate.
It seems the daily "yield" totals are updated and accurate but that includes battery usage.
Once I see what I charged using Go early am this morning I will be able to get a better idea of what I need to knock off the total that my dashboard supplies.

is there any way you can use a ct clamp to get production figures to an app??

ive added a little dashboard to my signature showing solar production and whole house energy usage, if anyones interested. Its not the best, it comes with the energy hive hub and is all done by the provider. all i can add is unit cost for electric, which i have put at my standard 33p rate.....

Its whole house consumption, so it doesn't take away solar production from the figures. In pvouput i have put a rule that it doesnt show solar production unless its above 22watts ( my sensor is showing 19watts when no solar is being produced, so i am taking that away from production figures with a little buffer)

But it does show how low my baseline figure is....80 watts

Unfortunately I don't think so. This is my system https://www.solaxpower.com/x-ess-g4/
As its all stacked there is not the raft of switches and cables all going from device to device like a "normal" system
The only cables outside that are house tails coming in, and Dc from inverter panels coming in.
There isn't even a "solar cable" to the consumer unit since as such since new tails come out of the G4 and into the CU in effect (its not quite that but its basically how it works)

thats a bugger...i only added the sensors to mine so i could get the data to pvoutput and because i was fed-up of the Growatt app crashing all the time. so now i can get the data without sending it to china first lol

Yeah it looks nice, although mine is mainly covered by insulation now, but means things like adding CT cables are basically impossible.

In theory maybe I could, I would need to work out what cables (if any) are the ones the inverter and mate box have that are the converted DC.
The mate box is the clever jobbie it pulls all the cables together and sorts the whole house UPS out when needed.

Need to finish it off, and modify it a little I realise. I really should have a small door I can open to access the inverter controls if needed. Or make the whole insulation thing "quick release"

I am not too worried about being 0.1 kwh perfect though, within 0.5 is good enough for tracking purposes.

i agree on the last line...i just didnt want to see values before and after production stopped in pvoutput, i dont mind it on my own personal interface as i know its there and easy to minus from the figures. Its more important that octopus get it right fpr billing lol....

ive got a new monitoring device coming soon that uses 3 ct clamps and i can monitor incoming, exporting and production.

my sensor is showing 19watts when no solar is being produced,
My energy meter on my SolarEdge PV does that., it's only 4w though so minimal. I would expect it to be negative at nighttime though, occasionally it does show negative but rarely.

it is annoying, but luckily in pvoutput you can add a rule to minus it from production, so the figures can be a bit more accurate in there than on my dashboard

Looks like its down again today :(

What you can do is connect directly to the G4 from your app - connect to its wifi network on your phone (its named wifi_serial number) then select account in the bottom right, the orange Local icon and then either scan the QR code on the wifi stick (in the mate box, plugged into the inverter) or use the serial number in all caps. That'll give you a live view as well as control over the settings.

You can also access that info direct from the device via your main wifi network, but its a bit trickier to decode, working on an update to my raspberry pi dashboard to do so or you can use one of the home assistant plugins afaik.

This is what my pi monitor looks like at the moment, but you can see its not updated properly for the last two hours!

Yesterday was a record day for us since we got the panels in January, 24.7kWh. Exported 14.8kWh for free as Im also waiting on an export MPAN. Starting to get annoyed now as its been over a month and still aren't sorted yet. I intend to switch to Octopus once Ive got it so that will no doubt be another delay.

Today is looking dire. Only 2.4kWh so far. Battery is 64% but looking at the forecast I think it'll run out tomorrow morning.

should have switched to octopus first....then go them to do the mpan all at the same time

Once octopus got my MPAN it only took them 2 days to get set up on their platform. I was already a customer though. Roughly 2 weeks from applying for Outgoing Octopus until it completed.

Today production never really got going. Today was every bit as bad as yesterday was good.

Question, I applied for an mpan earlier in the week but can find no reference for it in my account/dashboard or even confirmatory email. How long until I should expect to hear something or will the mpan simply arrive??
