Solar panel production figures

b) garden room - flat roof, so based on easy pv, I reckon 12 might be the most efficient and just accept it's south south east facing.
Your using the word efficient ;)

South south east will work well, I'm pretty impressed with how well my garage array works given the the split directions, low angle and some shading, it's basically doubled my generation, although it is 4.74kW compared to the house array which is 4kW.

I assume from your sig it's a PS2?

I just got mine last month, lovely car.

Unfortunately the free miles argument ignores the opportunity cost of exporting that juice - with octopus that could be up to 15p per kwh or potentially a lot more on Flux... I also like to think I'm getting free miles but really there is a cost involved - potentially if moving to flux for the summer you'd be much better off just charging the EV and house batteries during the "cheap" rate and exporting everything you can, dumping the most from the packs during the peak export hours.

Yep - PS2. Had it 2.5 years now and it's been great. It's going back in October - I did have a Polestar 3 on order, then thought about reducing car costs by getting another P2 but then cancelled the P3 and ordered a BMW iX, for about the same cost as a full spec replacement P2.

I'm on Go and haven't bothered with export due to the very low payments and the very little I export.

Yeah I'm on Go currently, but considering a move to flux now that generation is kicking up. If I could always guarantee that my car was at home (and with room in the battery!) to soak up the excess then probably wouldn't be much in it, but with the size of my system and the potential export capability the summer months could actually be profitable rather than just cheap. As others have pointed out here there's a certain simplicity to the flux tariff that needs no micro management or weather forecasting - you will always be best off fully charging everything during the cheap rate as you will always be paid more for the export than you paid for the cheap rate itself.

A couple of days ago I made 73kwh over 2 days... tie a few days like that together in the summer and even the car can't take it all - madness!

Speaking of Flux - to those of you that have switched, how long did it take for them to move you over out of interest?
I was switched to Flux import on the 12 March, had confirmation today that my export will start on Tuesday, so from applying to getting paid will be a month. My previous exports were on my FITS payments with another supplier, so they had to apply for a generation MPAN which took just over two weeks.

If Octopus already pay you for exports then it's pretty quick.

Ok thanks guys, I'm already with them for SEG and have an export MPAN etc so hopefully it'll be fairly quick. Oddly enough when I signed up for it today I still had to enter my export MPAN and upload the DNO form and MCS number though, despite already having export with them.

Advantageous that my more westerly setup will start to favour the evening peak hours for export too.

With a little luck when I switch back to Go for the winter maybe they'll forget to change the export back lol

Terrible weather today, but finally filled the battery at 16:30, somehow generated 18.2 and exported 0.9kWh, forecast was 9.2kWh. I haven't charged the battery from the grid since Saturday morning, used some grid over Saturday night until the sun came up on Sunday and been grid free since

Ive just been to check out the back at the rear roof, which is currently bathed in sunshine. obviously its the same size as the front, but due to the angle and height of my neighbours house it currently shades a section of the roof, but i think i can still get 6 on there…..totally useless in the winter, as the sun doesnt get around there at all until mid/end of march…..until around mid/end of october.

anyone think its worth putting 6 x 400watt panels up there??? Giving me another 2.4kws of power and then apply to DNO for extra export and bigger inverter???

as for today, we got 12.3kwhs and probably exported around 9kwhs

Happy to share yesterdays weather with ronski and have a turn at the clearer skies on offer! ;)

22.6kWh with the clouds stopping what would have been a 7-8pm sunset, best day of the month long may it continue.

Weird weather here, very cloudy all day, but somehow managed 26.92kwh - can totally see the difference the sun angle is making!
