Solar panel production figures

Something took a big bite out of my solar production this morning, otherwise it would have been a record breaking day.

And here's the culprit, it moved from the east to the west, you can see above at 7:49 production dropped, and then at around 10:30 it shot up. The cloud edge peak doesn't look too high above, but when I zoom in it shows a peak of 7.6kW, and my own monitoring shows today's highest peak at 8kW.

I'm at the very southeast tip of Kent, right in the middle of that splodge of clouds.

Today's figures.

Generation: 41.28kWh
Export: 37kWh

similar shape on my 1st half of the day too. 2nd half is slightly unusual as I have less panels on my west facing roof than east.

Quite bright but sporadic cloud throughout the day meant some good bursts similar to @Ron-ski when it came out, but it was clear from about 16:15 onwards which helped with the Flux output where I exported 12 of the 19 kWh that went spare. Will be ending up on 31 once the sun eventually sets.

Managed a new record of 28.8 today.
Exported a fair chunk, will earn me a massive 40p or so
Saying that I probably only put 50-60p in last night so won't be far off neutral on elec cost today.
I am not even putting the dishwasher on overnight now as I can't even get the hot water to absorb enough elec on a good day.

Poor start until midday but then lovely clear day, 32.35kWh -thought I'd made a mistake not topping up the batteries last night!

18.7kWh for me @ 6.3 efficiency, filled the 5kWh battery & exported 8kWh. It was 11am before the generation got above 600Watts, nice afternoon though.

25.8kWh generated and 14.3kWh exported.

We've only used 17kWh from the grid so far this month.

Tried to get my switch to Octopus under way today but couldn't as they hadn't closed our account from 3 years ago! Why are energy companies so frustrating!?

@katie279 new record today?
It was indeed! Although I'm distracted with PV envy as my neighbour is getting 32 x 410w panels installed - they're West facing rather than South like mine, but boy they're gonna pump out some juice!!

Need to get back to getting the next batch installed (although priority at this point is solar diverters for the cars as currently wasting 20kwh a day back to grid, so more isn't going to do much!)

i have added my output to the database on 1st page i went back to cover all april output and export. it is manual so won't be on the live chart unfortunately and relies on me doing it daily also won't have all the other info as I can't be bothered... I dug out an old nexus 10 tablet to install the home assistant server on but boy that seems a chore. may still give it a go but it's outside my wheelhouse really (I think I need to replace the os on my tablet, which needs me to install a load of stuff on my pc before then getting home assistant running )
my inverter gives me a key and a link to the API. such a shame I can't just plug that into the spreadsheet.

I just looked at the daily production of the radiation sponges and I can't work it out. very quick beer mat maths we generated 466kwh.
but according to the graph it was 153kwh.
I know my workings were rough but they won't be that far out.

I wouldn't install it on a tablet ideally. RPI3 would probably run it fine if you can get hold of one. RPI4 was facing a shortage so probably more expensive than it should be.

Think you can test out Home Assistant on your regular PC first, see if you can get it working with the inverter data. Then Home Assistant on an RPI3 would just be deploy and configure stuff via the web portal.

These guys offer an odriod with home assistant installed. I'm looking at this option once ive finished the garden refurb as i want to add cameras and lights out there
