Solar panel production figures

thanks.... am only doing this for a bit of fun and was hoping to womble some of the old hardware i already i have. not planning on buying hardware to do it.

i do have a pi3 (lounge retro emulation rig) i could use but the reason why i fancied my old nexus 10 tablet was i could use it as an alarm clock / morning music player in the bedroom as well, and maybe even tie into my blink doorbell.

more on topic, my solar is cooking on gas (not the best analogy for a green energy generation system ;) ) this morning.

battery already full and 2kwh exported. one day to go till my 2019 priced insanely cheap go faster ends and i will sign the Ts and Cs to move over to Flux. am confident so long as the weather is not awful i will be at least a zero monthly bill until autumn...

yeh i got a few ipads ( 3 of them, bloody dogs lol ) around with smashed screens. so when i get mine set-up i'm going to get those repaired and have them as touch screens for home assistant through the ipad app, in the kitchen, bedroom etc etc

ditto here... so far my generation has been a smooth almost textbook graph of what is practically possible to get from my system given the time of year. a nice smooth curve.

generating at 58% of my theoretical max at 2.97kwh right now.

Ok here today 17kWh and rising, yesterday was a beaut, new high of 33.7 here and I wasn't even home to turn the underfloor heating on :)

I do have a cunning plan for one sunny day of dumping the battery and only letting it charge at 1kW after I hit 3kW production to stop the clipping when the battery fills. Is that cheating? ;D

24 so far here. Perfectly clean graph and 14kw exported so far. Likely to be high 30s with the current clear day. Shall be fully charged ready for the 4pm dump.

Going to ask Octopus about switching to Flux as well, I don't have the insane numbers to back it up, but I'm also sick of exporting kWh's for pennies :)

Will be nice to have the system running where I can just let it export without trying to use it up instead.

This is an understated benefit of flux... It's quite nice to be able to simply charge up during the low rate regardless and then export everything you don't use... zero effort required and less frustrating if there's nice days where you aren't around to make use of it.

My only main gripe is the small window, 3 hours allows me to only put 21kwh into the car (7kw charger) or about 60 miles per day. My commute is about 40-45miles so works out ok, but when for example I came back home from a long trip on my days off at 40% it took me most of the working week to slowly make my way back up towards a full charge. If I had a longer commute I think that 3hr window would be a real deal breaker, and as it is it's still mildly irritating.

Yeah I can't quite charge battery in 3 hours either, it's like 85% or something if it's empty, but it's fine I think.

If I had an EV then the car sort of improves the situation in favour of Go/Intelligent a little.

wondering how to clean panels - does anyone know? i have some on my roof that are not very angled (they are in the black tubs), so they have a little grime on them - is it just water/sponge?

Looks like the big clouds are going to start rolling over just at the start of the peak flux export rate… typical!

Next 10 days on the solar forecast don’t look overly exciting either. Been an ok month but not much by way of “perfect” days other than one right near the start.

Who ordered @Ron-ski cloud and rain this afternoon lol ?
I don't know. But they've arrived here as well, rain included.
I may have sacrificed a goat or two...
Hopefully it was the ones on the panels.

Basically yes, but if you suffer with lime scale then not a good idea to use tap water apparently.

I was thinking of doing something similar to this. My inverter is 3.6kW but it has a DC input of 7kW. I can get 5kW sometimes but then once the battery is full it starts clipping.
