Solar panels and battery - any real world reccomendations?

Hi everyone - looking for a recommendation for an installer who would cover North Warwickshire? After 18/20 panels and battery over a West & East roof, researched things to death and I need to hit the button. Got a call booked with Eon for next month but need some alternatives - thanks !

Had a few days trickling at 12kw generated which given the pap weather isn’t too bad. Friday was great weather for about 85% of the time and I got 27kw generated.

I can see this easily putting in a solid performance for the most part saving a few quid. I imagine winter will be similar to the days with 10kw generated but due to reduced day hours I’m thinking I’ll get perhaps 6-7kw when it’s like that. I’ll just ensure the batteries are charged on “GO” and leave the bulk of generation to the home in the day.

So far so good. Happy with the install and it’s performance.

@Andrew Moore I'm not sure how many panels you've got but with 4kw of panels I saw an average of 2.29kWh a day last December (it was the worse December I've had), and January was average of 5.1kWh a day.

Has anyone gone through the process of applying for a Home Energy Scotland loan or similar? I'm finding it a bit of a car crash. Managed to get all the relevant forms together and completed along with the required reports, one of which is a Home Renewables Selector report. This report is generated from information that you supply. You get the report plus a quote reference code. All done from an officially sanctioned website. A month after submitting the application, I've been told that this report is missing details that I was never given an option to fill in and I'll have to phone Home Energy Scotland so that they can amend the report. Hopeless... After half an hour on hold, I'm just about to hang up.

Can you clean under panels? Pur roof has a serious moss problem which I'm about to get sorted but I'm concerned it will come back and have no access under the solar panels

Shrug, it grows mostly on the side of the roof that doesn't get light, just like the patio that doesn't get light gets the most slippery green crud on it

I've considered this as we have a battle with moss on our tiled roof. When the scaffold was up for the panels I scraped and brushed it all off, and if I spot new moss growing I am going to spray a product like "Wet and Forget" above so it runs down behind the panels which does kill moss very effectively but relies on dead moss washing back down the roof afterwards which doesn't completely work so failing that the panels are high enough above the tiles that I will be able to get a scraper in underneath them.

10% Domestos bleach to 90% water will do the same, I use this in a garden pump up sprayer, with the end set as a jet.
Just spray and it kills it all.

Pretty clear in my part of Kent as well today, all usual chores nearly complete, air con running in heat mode, going to have spare to test out the new heat pump drier shortly :)

I've been looking at these guys and their premade packages

Do they look like decent selections?

I have basically the same package as they are charging £12.5k for, (3 less panels) we had it installed 3 weeks ago for £9.5k and I thought that was a little over priced when I checked out the component costs.

At 12.5k it seems a rip off if im honest.

Great, that's good to know, but I could use them as a guide for what kit to pick at least?

Start with your need. What's your daily consumption and split through the day. Do you have/might you have an EV in future? What do you think your peak demand is?
From there we can work out system size, subject to the limitation of what is the aspect(s) of your roof, and how many panels can you fit up there?
