Some from engagement shoot last night.

I don't know what your junk looks like Raymond but I can't see a phallic looking tree :p

Nice set. For one point of constructive crit, I'd say that if you're setting the portraits off to the side then you should have them on opposite sides rather than the same.

Also, try dirtying the frame in other ways than just branches from above. It's fine but can just get a bit repetitive.

I've worked with this wedding tog - www.funkyphotographers.co.uk/weddings - who was very good and seems to love dirtying the frame and does it quite well.

Cheers, your right! :)
And I'll check out that link!

My only niggle is that you have them in front of a dead tree for some of the shots. In front of a live tree is good - growth (together), long lasting, stronger with age etc. Dead tree... well, it has the hall mark of "the end of" :) Particularly with the order in which you've posted them in this thread. Couple either side of a fully grown, very much alive tree.. then bam - no couple, and a dead tree that looks like the live one has died.

Lol, perhaps the dead tree symbolises the end of an old life, and now they are both looking forward into the future together? :o

Of course but I'm interested to know why you think it looks fake?

This one for example, if it was real TS shot, the focal plan will cut through where you have it at the front and then keep going and either cut somewhere on the ground/fence or the trees behind.

Some you can't tell if there is no depth behind it. It's easier to tell if there is.

I was running out of light (was at 12800 towards the end), but if I stopped down, I think you would get the effect you describe. F1.4 softened the background.

Good spot btw, I hadn't noticed.

Guess you need to use a real one to get to feel and see what it does for real to spot these things. :)

It's not a natural concept to imaging as it's not how our eyes see the world.

Wow, just looked up some of her portraits. Do you have a link to a video you were describing?

As for the set I like them exception, not a fan of tilt shift fake or real. I like the set all apart from the ones where they are either side of the tree. To me it looks like a giant elephants leg. Poor ray and his elephant leg penis! ;)

Mostly I need to come and live near you, where average blokes keep getting quite nice looking women. Both the guys in your last two sets must have money or one of rays tree penises :D

I really like 4, 5 and 15. I do like the way you process 4 and 5. A completely different direction to how I process and I might have to try to replicate it for me :)

Nice set, the close ups work best for me 10 & 15 are killer.

As for the tilt shift I'm not over keen but that's probably because I'm seeing it everywhere at the moment and I think there are better examples.

Wow she's impressive.

I like everything apart from the paper scissors stone shot as they just look really uncomfortable in it compared to the relaxed feel of the others. The fake tilt shift is fine while the togs on here will spot the fake 99% of the general population don't even know whats it's called and those that do think it's an app for there iphone. Got to admit to me it's just the latest gimic and will probably look really dated in a few years time whe everyone has moved on.

I'm not arguing your critique, instead to explain the picture. It was a tense moment, it was the best of 3 and there was real stakes. The loser had to take the other out and pay for a nice meal. Hopefully they see that picture which will then remind them of when they had a nice cosy meal together.

Blink and you'll miss it. I feel like I am giving away all the trade secrets :p

Thanks Ray, I think you should give more away in a place of sharing, after all you learnt these secrets from someone else ;)

I will come round saturday and you can show me them ;)

Thanks anyway for introducing me to her work, in all honesty I don't really look at many pro's work outside of forums and I probably should.

Nice set, I'm sure they are very happy with them. If you could number your shots next time I'll tell you exactly which ones I like :D

The only comment I'd make with regards to the tilt\shift, for me it doesn't make any of the images here where you have used it. It's not like the shot of your grandmother where it was used to isolate her from all the clutter of the ward. That made a real difference to the shot, whilst in this set I wouldn't really miss it :)

I'm not a fan of engagement shoots really but this couple look like a punchy duo and the photos compliment them nicely :)
