Never heard of engagement shoots, people love to spend big on weddings though I guess.
Some from engagement shoot last night.

Seems to be all the rage at the moment but depends how the photographer approaches it. Some use the engagement shoot as a free taster of what they can expect from the wedding itself, whilst others charge for it as part of the wedding package. Never really seen a clear winner either way of doing it so both prove popular!

It's an American thing that's recently been adopted over here. I've done a few, sometimes the couple like to use the photos to make into a canvas on the wedding day for the guests to sign.

It helps at the wedding tbh. The B&G learn how I work. They feel more confident knowing that their wedding photography won't make them feel awkward.
The guests give you a warmer reception, as having seen your work, they don't assume your just some chump with a big camera producing **** pictures.

Interesting. As you say if it's free it would be good for the consumer, know they can be confident in the photographer before the big day.
