Damn thats a good example of a XR2!

Although I am not a fan of white cars in general that does look very nice.

Under the bonnet is a 1.6 8v isn't it?

Yup standard 1.6 8v under there. Got some plans for it mind you. Body work wise its mint, took carpet out last night to check condition of inner sills properly.. and all perfect :) Just got a tiny bit of rust in the boot to sort out from where the washer bottle has leaked onto it.

If its as mint as you say it is, enjoy it :) Quite fun cars in all honesty (had a quick play in one when I was 17, although it was a tatty one :p).

Only thing I don't like are the pepperpots, but then I never liked them anyway.

Looks like a very clean example.

What happened to your Rover?

He sold it to the guy who had the 420 Turbo that I went to see.

Andy, that looks bloody mint! Very smart indeed! How does it compare to the GSi?

You coming to Blackpool on Sunday?

I was gonna turbo it, but not yet. Gonna fit twin 40's, big valve head, cam, vernier, exhaust and see what im kicking out then. MAY go for a 1.9 Tall block however i doubt it. My mate has got a 1.8 CVH with cam, twin 40's etc and that kept up with my coupe turbo up until 110 where i went ahead. But tbh i dont want speeds of 100+ as its just stupid. Compared to the GSI? Well i can tell you that compared to the XR2 the GSI is a boat and doesnt handle. Its got Yokos all round and ive only driven it in the rain so far lol. But no matter how hard i push it, it just grips and turns. Speed wise, the GSI Turbo will kill it, but what do you expect? a 1.6 8v with under 100bhp compared to a 200bhp 2.0 Turbo :p With the mods planned im looking forward to next years track days :D Gonna give the old girl hell :D

You like your old shape bmw though ;)

Looks fantastic

51 Plate BMW 5 Series is a little different to an E Plate Fiesta XR2 though.

Its a nice example, only thing i would do is loose the pepperpots and put some 15" RS wheels on :)

yes they handle very well.

Nothing that special on the track xr2 me and my friend use.

spax with r888 rubber and thats more than enough to run with the big boys.

reason I mentioned Rs Turbo lump as its a cheap conversion and will give real nice mid range power, also there a nice reliable unit.

twin 40's sound nice but from my experiance they always seem to need tuning what seems like every couple of months :/

Nice car there bud :D

Just needs a Rs Turbo transplant and a few mods to turn her into a scooby/Evo chaser :D

I have had a go in an RS tubby XR2 and it was a weapon!
200 horse should be nice and reliable, I think 250 is ok on stock internals?? and have seen a 310 bhp escort but that was a serious tuning shops car, I think that needs to be lovingly cared for,

I still havn't quite got round to decideing wether I want the one that I can have cheap, its still there but he will have to sell it soon if I dont decide (if anyone remembers the thread). I went over budget on the bike (and so glad I did!), so bourght the corsa for a cheap runabout in the winter. I think I made the right choice, I have the bike, can live without a quick car whilst I settle my debts, then I can have a proper car and my bike more comfortable. (Damn maturity :-))

That one had been very reliable engine wise with 190bhp, stick that in a xr2 and it should be all smiles with some suspension and sticky tires! nothing better than cheap sleepers, the front mount may give the game away mind!

Just looks like an old E reg Fiesta, sorry :(

Just cause your too young to appreciate a car like this :p :D

That is one stunning example of an XR2 Sgt :) Is it in decent nick throughout.

Wow the original boy racer pin up hot hatch of the 80s. (ignoring pug/vw gti)

Interior is immaculate, like i said really, only problem is the boot. Got a rust hole around the size of a 10 pence peice. Will sort that out when i get some steal. Inner bays are solid, sills, inner sills, roof all solid. Engine doesnt use oil and doesnt lose water. Im not bothered about getting it tuned every few months as its going to be a constant work in progress. I might fit Escort GTI alloys, but i dunno. Definately fitting 90 spec recaros and having the door cards and rear seats re trimmed. But that isnt on my list of priorites at the moment. :)

Nice, I had a race with an XR2 the other day, I was driving an XR3 I have to say the XR2 put up a good fight even when something in it did blow up and a huge puff of smoke came out the back

That is pure retro 80's :D Keep it stock I reckon, the fact it is not a pile of rust right now is impressive enough. How much did these things weigh
