Some quick piccys of the XR2

basic weight is 851kg according to Mr Haynes :p I do like them RS wheels. Might get a set of diamond cut ones :D

Did they do diamond cut in 15" ?

IIRC they were only 17" diamond cuts, but i'm happy to be proved wrong, here's a set i photoshopped on to my mates ERST...

I was gonna turbo it, but not yet. Gonna fit twin 40's, big valve head, cam, vernier, exhaust and see what im kicking out then. MAY go for a 1.9 Tall block however i doubt it.

Why not just go for a zetec instead of wasting time on the old 8v engine?

Meh, wasnt that hard, current wheels are already 17" so it was simply a case of putting them on top, and rotating them so the light shines in the right way then just resizing to fit :)

Nice car, I know which I'd chose for a blast around some country lanes if it were the XR2 or say a 51 reg e39! - No! it would'nt be the e39! ;)

I have "fond" memories of killing my Mums pride & joy XR2 on Mothers day(!) a few years back! :o

Aaah, the Fiesta "Supersport" - how the hell they got away with that one I'll never know, it was a bog std 1.3!

Looked good though, the forerunner to the Mk1 XR2 & worth a packet if you find an original one!

NICE!

Lovely car.

Instead of spunking dollah on the CVH, get yourself a 1.6 Zetec SE, a set of bike carbs (infinitely better than twin Webers) and Megajolt for the spark.

£200 for the engine
£300 for the carbs (jetted to suit) and a custom manifold
£200 for spark and bits 'n' bobs to fit.
£150 for exhaust

You'll have a smooth, torquey and reliable 150-160bhp easily.

GET IT DONE!

The man talks sense! Quite a bit of work to do it, and strengthening but well worth it, saw one on eBay not long ago with this, can't find the link for it though.

I love old Fords, my dream car is a MK1 Escort. Fully restore everything but the engine, make that something silly fast. OK the handeling will be pants but they just look ssoooooo damn nice.

Tidy example mate, ruse in the boot and by the battery under the bonnet is a common rust place on those. Keep us updated on the progress and keep the Pepper Pots! Colour coded bumpers would be cool.
