Some Serious Hardware!!

I could care less if you use a Mac Pro or not. I'm not anti Apple - however I do think you end up paying over the odds for the brand name. My issue with Chase's video is that it's more an advert for Apple hardware than being instructive on his workflow. As the original poster states - it's hardware porn. Lets see what he does when the bottom falls out the US economy in the near future and commercial advertising revenues dry up ;)

Well that debate has been done over and over and over and will not be done here - suffice to say I don't agree with you ;)

Either way if it does go to pot, he is unlikely to do anything other than not upgrade his kit quite so quickly!

Those X-serves are going to go next tho I'd imagine, replaced with MP Servers...
 
Hard to hear the arguing over the music from my iPhone, although I'm checking this on my Macbook and sipping a fresh starbucks whilst the Mac Pro churns out images.

Personally I couldn't care if people used whatever hardware. I'm not going to bother watching that video, as a person pretentious enough to refer to themselves in third person deserves no further views :D

And just to be a git to the person that said "I could care less", this comment suggests that you agree, not that you don't, otherwise you couldn't care less :)

Fanboy rantings about hardware are the most retarded things I've ever seen, and serve no purpose other than making all involved in the argument look like tools. If someone would pay for a top end mac for me, I'd be happy to play with it :D

I don't really mind him either tbh. He seems like my sorta guy being an extreme sports nut and all, a lot of the lads I used to ride with who shoot are always checking out his work for inspiration. I think he's just a little *too* plugged into the whole internet social media thing. The pretty transparent behind the scenes stuff is great in an otherwise quite protective industry, but it can easily come off as milking it for popularity I suppose. You can see him being the first person in line for an iPad, who is the first to sign up to twitter with it, etc.. No-one likes that guy :p

He is a bit into Apple though.. Seems that if Apple make a version of a product for anything he'll use it rather than actually using the best product for the job. His company though, and he's still doing rather well!
 
I don't get where all the he's into Apple stuff comes from?

Its the best gear. He needs the movie packages of Final Cut Pro. Needs decent large screens. The backup solutions of time machine. The sheer performance of the MacPros and obviously iPhone and iPads are just so convenient and popular. Also its a stupid idea to run a mac environment and trust it to something else other than an XServe. Don't see why he's anything other than smart?

Also trendy studio doesn't want ugly pieces of crap that are regular PCs. Keep it contemporary and fresh.

I'm a PC user, and am definitely not looking to go Apple, however even I can see why he has chosen Apple and remained consistent in using Apple solutions...
 
To be fair he was the first guy to really go behind the scenes with the type of work that he does. He has given out loads of good advice in many of his videos and he seems like someone who wouldn't mind you asking something random in the street.

He hardly that into the social media, as he hasn't posted any good videos etc for a long time now.

Also the workflow video was requested many times by his followers and it's good to see he took the time out to make one for his fans.

Watch some more of his videos and read his blog and you might find he knows what he is at.

In the workflow video it shows what the others done to help him. Do you think he has the time to do all that is talked about himself?
 
Jarvis is clearly a photographer first, a tech guy second. Hence he hired that "slightly larger" guy to help him. The video even says his job is to back up the files on site, compress videos etc. I doubt that person take a single photo and hired for his technical expertise.
 
i've been assisting a pro togger for the last couple of days...his stuff is pretty drool inducing. Nikon D3x (5 grand odd)...70-200 vr 2, 24-70...etc etc - pretty pretty good stuff!
