Turns out I may have to wait past Monday as my Nexus 4 has developed a fault and the way Google handles it is they place a hold for £280 on the account before the new device arrives - which is only released when the faulty unit is received - which means my funds are cut in half.
As to my use of the rig, it's mostly going to be image editing and Gaming - I don't do much gaming at the moment due to studies but I'm sure as soon as they're over I'll play some of my burgeoning Steam library built up over the sales! As such I want to build a machine that will be relatively future proof for at least the next 3 years or so (I know future proofing is a dumb concept but I don't mind if I have to drop the graphical settings a bit in 3 years time!)
As to one of the recommendations being to drop down to a 7950 - why? Is this a better idea than the b-grade 7970? I was under the impression the 7970 was a better card - has marketing tripped me up?
As for the ram situation - I'm not sure what I want there, I was thinking about messing around with a ram disk but honestly I don't think I'd ever seriously use it as I have a SSD already so a 2x4gb kit for dual channel operation IS probably a better option and as such I will probably consider that
And lastly, with the free shipping - Eh give me as many recommendations as you like
I shall be sure to reply a lot!
Concerning the power supply, does anyone know who the OEM for that modular Corsair PSU is? I wouldn't mind knowing as I've heard Seasonic are absolutely fantastic.
