someone complained

get there a bit early?

its not a legal requirement that I swipe in and out of the building but I could still get sacked if I don't.

i wouldn't.. but I could.

key to this is contract though

There is usually no provisions in the contract regarding quality of vehicles used in the car park beyond making sure its road legal, and not driving in an unsuitable manor

If you ride in nice and gingerly, carefully park your bike, and do exactly the same on the way out, your not breaking any conduct rules, nor are you breaking any motoring rules

so what grounds have they got to ask you not to ride it to work ? there would have to be something specificly in your contract that forbids the driving of noisy vehicles. Which is unlikely, i know mine doesnt.

I agree with MrLOL, your card swipe isn't a legal requirement, but it is a requirement of your contract. If you don't swipe, you're in breach. I doubt the OP's contract forbids using a tasty-sounding bike for the commute.

arrgghhh I can't stand sports exhausts on motorbikes! I'll never understand why people put up with the noise and inconvenience of swapping it out for MOT's and driving slowly round town incase anyone notices for the comparitvely small performance increase.

In answer to your question there is probably nothing they can do at work but someone will grass you up to the cozzers if they are wound up enough to get the company to take it seriously they will be more than willing to go to the next level.

try riding a quiet bike in traffic no one will see / hear you, noisy exhausts are a life saver... so sorry if it offends but get over it, this is not an opinion , this is not my point of view this IS observed fact from 15 years of riding bikes in and arround london.

To be fair you don't know how noisy or annoying it is for people in the office on account of you being outside when the noise is happening.

They might not just be being jobsworths it might genuinely be annoying. Coupled with it happening regularly twice a day you can see why some people might complain.

I hate loud exhausts myself, especially when people insist in sittig next to you in traffic, revving them up pointlessly and generating a sound louder than the impact point of a nuclear bomb. What's the point?

They really need to get a life if they are going to complain about something happening twice a day that lasts about 1 minuit  whats 2 minuits out of 24 hours, unless you live in a bubble the world is full of other peoples annoyances you have to put up with.

i think having the bike on for less than 60 second twice a day is not a reason to make a complaint. If something this silly gets to people they need to get a life

As I say it might be really annoying for them. A minute or not if it's happening regularly I'd say it's not unreasonable for people to complain. It might be totally legal and nothing can be done about it, doesn't change the fact that it's annoying people.

posted this before but made me laugh.. was taped to my fuel tank

My area fails at car spares shops :(

Not a single Cherry Bomb or straight through silencer anywhere
The car is now sporting a large carb, 4-1 exhaust manifold and a Cherry Bomb with a side pipe. I have been reliably informed that they can feel it through the floor in the office :)

Tomorrow ride it in to work right up to your desk. If anyone comes over to complain quickly blip the engine.
