someone complained

And I set a car alarm off last night.

Wahahahah what shall I try and do tonight... :p

My old Clio used to do that to one car in particular every day without fail when commuting. I must admit there were a couple of times returning home at 1am that I forgot to alter my route home, and as such set the bloody thing off.

Bad I know, but I couldn't help but giggle. :D

Tomorrow ride it in to work right up to your desk. If anyone comes over to complain quickly blip the engine.

:)

I have a bike with an aftermarket end can, and it's loudish. I'd say out of ten it's about 7 in terms of loudness. 10/10 would be say a racefit growler which is just MotoGP style rawness. I personally let my bike idle for about a minute while I get my gear on and then set off easy for the first mile or so. I park right next to a window at work and so do all the other bikers. Never had a complaint about noise yet but I wouldn't put it past my place of work. I've also had the following other issues with regards biking:

1: Must atleast flip my visor when coming into reception so people can see who it is
2: Got told off once for having no L plate on the front of my RS125 when I was only on a CBT licence (so should have had some). Some sad person grassed me up to an anal manager.
3: Got told off for parking in a car park space when we were made to move our bikes off of the bricked area outside reception. We got made to move them from there because they made the place look untidy, but the real reason they used, was that it was a health and safety issue supposedly. (they soon made a proper bike park after this)
4: Neighbour complained when my mate started his R1 with Akra race can at 4am - oops. I have since apologised and we are now friends.

I do agree though since running with a loud can, cars just move out of the way so much quicker and I rarely get cut up now. It really is much safer especialyl when filtering.

My can is road legal. Loud as ****, but does release a fair bit of power and torque, sounds AMAZING and means I can be heard more easily from the ****s in their metal boxes.

If people complain for the sake of a 1 minute twice a day **** 'em. Just not worth it there's nothing that can be done and you're perfectly entitled to it.

Seriously though I often ride to work and I'm up at 5am - even with a road legal can and riding off straight away (which I do - I'm not keen on letting it idle) it's going to annoy people - so you can't win. Nobody at work complains as we're a 24hr organisation in a non residential area - but frankly legal can or not, race can or not bikes are loud. Why shouldn't I commute using my bike?

Let's face it - some people just don't like bikes. Don't want to like them. And don't want to understand why we like them. There's nothing you can do about it. Some people just like everything their way without any compromises.

Well, there's no fun in it - obviously - but the OP needs to wake up and realise he can either annoy his co-workers and stunt his career at that company (or at the very least end up being ostracised), or he can be a bit more accommodating.

I have a reasonably loud exhaust on my car but I don't make a point of annoying everyone with it.

For the sake of 1minute I think they're being unreasonable. Bikes are loud, and it's not as if he's revving it for minutes or even leaving it idling that long. As I said in my previous post some people are just miserable ****s that just complain so long as their life isn't their way and they impose their high and mighty look down their noses attitudes towards people.

If he were doing it on purpose to annoy people that's a different issue of course - but stunting a career path just because he has a loud bike which makes a bit of noise for a minute? Ridiculous.

arrgghhh I can't stand sports exhausts on motorbikes!

I'm with Alex on this. We moan about chavs with overloud exhausts when, quite frankly they don't really need them. I don't see what separates bikers with custom (louder) exhausts from this category.

No point ruining two brushes with the tar is what I say.
