Someone keeps taking our wheelie bin

If you look further down the alleyway, people dump their bags if their bin is full.

The binmen come from that gate so people dump their bags there so the binmen don't have to walk all that way with them.

That's exactly what this person decided to do (although not take them down to the gate) once I claimed my bin back ;)

When someone stole my bin in Canterbury, the council made me pay for a new one. At that stage, the bin became mine. The bin is his, not the councils.

I am pretty sure its not tho.

I have never known anyone take a bin when moving house, so that would imply that its the councils.

I have never had a letter from a council saying, please find your new free bin outside your door. But I have had something along the lines of now we have supplied you a bin you can no longer put out anything else such as bin bags.

So I still stand by that its not his bin its the councils bin.

I live fairly close to Boro, can I come by and get your stuff now before you get put into the bin by your neanderthal neighbours?

Many thanks :)

Not sure what happens if someone takes a bin or sets light to it or something, but if you move into a house where there should be one but isn't, the council will make you pay. Been there, paid, though maybe it depends on the council. In that situation, though, the bin is the home owners...

Extract from Lincoln council, which tbh would be legally where I would expect this to fall.

Who owns the bin...

"Whoever bought the bin. If the Council bought it, it's the Council. If a landlord bought it, he/she owns it."

So if I moved into a house that hadn't got one I would say to council you haven't supplied ME one so you better had.

Didnt i read somewhere that if people are filling your bin up, its theft ? sure i read it in some article about councils that were fitting chips to bins.
A guy at the end of the street where i used to live, left his bin out all week in the back street next to the corner of his house, one week it had stop stealing written on it. A few weeks later it had the same in a different colour written on it. The last one i saw was Stop ******* stealing you ****.
Guess he should just put it on his property.

used to leave it where the blue bag is.

A similar thing happened to me when I first moved into this flat, it wouldn't have been a major issue if they hadn't been totally filling my bin with **** that the binmen won't take or actually left me some room so I could put my 1 bag that i put out a week.

I just put a padlock on it in the end and I unlock it on bin day.

These 'Wheelistats' have an arm over the top of the lid to stop it opening too far. Stops people putting big rubbish bags in, unless they have a key.
