Something "fun" for £10k

Ive personally got no experience of them myself, but almost every thing ive heard about the handling has been negative.

Ah good old secondary opinions, most cars image's are based upon what people have heard off other people, which I find most odd.

10K is getting toward elise money ;)

that or a MR-2 tubby and a wedge of cash left over.

I'd sugest an MG-TF 160 but I'd get my head bitten off by OMG WTF HG type things so I won't bother.

HT
I'd bite your head off because it's a crap chassis compared to the Lotus/VX220 equivilents in the price range ;).

I had a '54 TF 135 for a week. The handling is disappointing, the ride quality is rubbish and the build quality is absolutely shocking.

I wanted to like it, but it was crap.

ITR? 200SX and goodies would be high on my list, maybe even an S15 silvia (i just think they look cool :p) If not definetely elise/vx220 area, errrm supra?

ITR would be up there with the 200sx for me. If not a 3 series coupe aswell.

Not really as im sure no one here can afford to own and drive every car out there, so if your mum/dad/brother/mate etc has a car and tells you what its like then your bound to pass that info on to others asking for advice!

That's all very well, but if you pass on information based on what you've read in the motoring press combined with your mother's uncle's friend's advice, it gets a bit like Chinese whispers.

how about a 200SX S14a get a low mileage one for 6K - 7K and spend the resdst on mods, make it 300 HP and 0-60 in under 5 secs ?

Ignore the coupé part and get yourself a Mini Cooper S. Should be able to get one for your money.

The Cooper S is 163 BHP, and very very good fun. Even the Cooper is great fun, especially in the twisties.

I was being sincere!! That's definitely something I'd get if I was going to replace mine! :)

i'll take that back then, thanks :)

I thought you was being sarcastic!

or u could even get an S14 for under 5K and spend the rest on mods :D :D

oir get an S13 which looks and drives like a sports car and spend 8K on mods, 500 BHP any one ? :D

ah! yeah, good point!

which one has 140 BHP? that the standerd Cooper ?

While the cars suggested so far seem to be pretty good in the main, I would very much doubt that a modified or jap import car would fall at under 1200 notes for insurance personally the info of 23 and 1 years NCB.
I think the ITR DC2 would be pushing that £1200 bracket too from what I understand looking at the DC2 insurance spreadsheet over at www.itr-dc2.com.

Sorry about peeing on your chips :D

How much fun do you want, and at what expense? I was gonna recommend a CTR, but you're already thinking of that. How about some more 'outside the box' ideas.

2003 53 Reg SMART ROADSTER-COUPE convertable
media

Plus one of these

Just to add here - that link is for Smart ?For Two modifying. You can get 106BHP out of the For-Two very easily, for £299, due to it having a larger engine.
Link here:
http://www.smartsrus.com/smart_roadster_remaps.htm

Then you could look at Exhaust/induction/Bigger Turbos etc.

Obviously this is very different to the suggestions that will be made and you may well hate it. I guess you could realistically look at 120BHP for around £700/800 extra. (A guess)

:)
