Something "fun" for £10k

I like the Toyota Celica 190... the Hyundai is also a great car, plus 5 year warranty but the V6 is thirsty.

Hyundai Coupe V6? Just had a quick gander on auto-trader and there are a fair few 52 platers knocking around at £8k.

Thirsty and not much quicker than the 2.0. Personally not a fan of the Hyundai Coupes at all - Celica 4tw :).

Insurance on a standard 200sx is suprisingly cheap. £1000 for me at 21 with 0NCB :D so dont discount it untill you have had a quote.
Mainstream insurance companies wont touch you with a properly modded 200sx. Or at least not a 23/1 year person. And there is not a lot of point in buying a standard 200sx over other cars in its class.

Specialist insurance companies can be cheap, but generally not <1.3K cheap for young people that havent already had the car for a year.

old jap coupe and mod it lots, or elise/vx220.

those would be pretty much my options in this category :]

A friend had a brabus smart roadster and really rated it, ok they aren't that quick but drove nicely even with the flappy gear box.

Personally I'd be tempted by a VX/Elise, or a decent late low milage 200sx for 6k and a few mods, and change :) :)

Buy yourself an old Ford Transit, drop a chipped Sierra Cossie engine in it,beef up the running gear and you'll have lots of fun! - Should be within £10k I'd have thought. ;)

Otherwise, an e30 M3.

Thanks for the replies.

I think an elise will be a bit too extreme as i'll be making the 30 mile commute in to work each day (mainly motorway) and prefer some creature comforts. I didn't know a mini cooper s was in my budget so that's another one i'd like to look at.

I think your going the right way with the celica, if you want hassle free motoring and a lot of speed. Its well known that toyota dumb down their performance figures, because the celica is a hell of a lot faster than its quoted 7.1 seconds 0-60. The engine isnt very torquey though.
Considered the Leon Cupra R? You can get an 02 plate one for sub 10k, and that is reasonably economical and reliable.
