Something went wrong, ordered a Mustang, yet ended up in a British hotrod, I blame OcUK!

People are stupid. They are driving slowly, therefore everyone must.

Particularly miffs me when I do a safe overtake within the speed limit because someone is doing 40MPH in a 60MPH limit, and I'm met with flashing lights... Its not my fault you can't drive! :p

Well dual carriage way, they are in slow lane, nothing ahead of them, I am in the fast lane, not even behind them in slow lane they were probably doing 40mph on an NSL, I flew past of course at 70mph, I never break speed limit, but of course I guess to overtake is reckless and dangerous even though I was merely travelling in the other lane quicker than they were in the slow lane. But I guess maybe the noise scared them and if your doing double their speed its probably like a bang going off past them. :D

I do know I've being on the motorway sat in the slow or middle lane cruising along at 70-80mph and then all of a sudden I hear a might bang as a motorbike goes past in the fast lane at what must be double the speed I am travelling, its certainly made me jump out of my skin, but do I start flashing my lights at them? Of course not I just carry on with my day. :)

Hi there

So gone from this today:

It was a good looking car but for me I disliked the gloss black wheels and red calipers, as such I've changed both to a colour combination which suits me better. I also did small details like changing the wheel nuts from chrome to black and the wheel centre caps from red to black/chrome.

Really happy with the result, cocked up a little on the logo as did not centre it perfectly which was a bit of a boo boo, but once the wheel was on the car cannot really tell. For now left rears blank with no logo at all, might add something or may just not bother. Was hoping to just add "SVR" to them but can only find "R" logos.

Also when I joined the M1 this morning I got flashed twice, assuming a camera but upon looking down I was only doing 78mph so seems they have cranked up the sensitivity, shall see if I get a summons as the overhead gantries were not illuminated. :(

Also polished to remove swirls from the carbon parts and added a protective ceramic coating. All that is left now is a paint correction on the painted body parts and seal. Also trip their I averaged 31mpg for whole 150 miles and return journey was a door to door average of 35mpg which I am impressed by as there was quite some heavy traffic so parked on motorway. 300 miles and still just over a quarter of tank left, not bad for 600HP near as dammit. :)

Gantries are on 24/7 from what I've been told. Same with the ones on the pole.

Shame it got you, car looks much better with the new additions. It's crazy how subtle differences can make such a big impact.

Yeah its annoying as was just accelerating gently onto the motorway and around some cars to settle into a groove around 70mph and flash flash, obviously I creeped over though the car accelerates without trying, takes no effort am guessing it flashed me between 75-85mph as when I looked down was at 78, be interesting to see what the letter says if I get one, but of course hoping I do not get one. Crap that they don't even give you any warning they are on, after that I religiously watched the speedo and stayed under 70 for the whole of M1 lol.

It is for this reason that I just stick on cruise at 70mph on the motorway and don't touch it. Also saves me a ton of cash in fuel!

would have being no use as I was joining the motorway and moving from lane to lane, so getting upto speed, though I've discovered the car has a speed limiter feature, set it and once reached the throttle then has zero impact, could be useful but also maybe dangerous too if for what ever reason you need a spurt of acceleration to avoid something.

My guess is locals were aware as they were all sitting religiously at 70mph, no one was going faster.

Hi there

I may have posted this before, apologies if I have:

Watch it, see his smile, hear his giggles, its over a month later since I got mine, and every day I still make, giggle like that. I can't really offer you guys a review yet as I am still learning the car and though I've pushed it where I know is safe to do so, I am yet to properly put the car through its paces simply as temperatures have struggled to get much over 5c during my ownership and its being more or less permanently wet. However what I will say is in these conditions the car is playful but also very capable and the fact this car can be so much fun in a British Winter I think really is testament to the amazing job SVO and Jaguar have done in building a truly capable and every day sports car or supercar, no idea which one Jaguar class this as but most reviews seem to refer to it as a supercar and it truly is an everyday all weather one.

He comments on the automatic in his video and people here will know how picky I am over automatics and find most of them not intuitive enough in auto to use them in auto and then not responsive enough on the paddles. Well this has to be one of the first automatics I've had where I am quite happy to just leave the car in drive, its fast, smart and just does as you would expect whilst being smooth. Yet flick it over to paddles and it is practically as responsive as a DSG but with some added kick which if anything makes it more fun. No idea what Jaguar/SVO did with this ZF8 but they made a truly fantastic transmission out of it and for the first time I am not longing for a twin clutch style box or a manual.

One thing I will say is I collected my M3 on Friday, once everything was upto temperature and fresh petrol in the tank I drove the car hard and the M3 always felt quick, proper quick when my other car was the Mustang, they were very equal in acceleration due to the M3 being light and the M3 is still as quick as it was, but compared to the SVR it kind of felt slow, a throttle you have to work much harder due to their being far less torque is what makes the SVR feel so quick as the car accelerates so hard, so instantly due to the supercharger, the response is unreal. Also I found myself in the wet/greasy conditions battling understeer in the M3 and either had to trim my line or slow down and then use power, whereas the SVR just turns in and is wonderfully neutral through a corner, but it is this neutral feeling that does make me weary through a corner and not willing to push it too hard yet because when the car lets go it lets go like a RWD car and due to the short wheel base can feel a little snappy, it does seem progressive though but as the slide begins it feels a little snappy, though a trait the Michelin tyres have greatly improved over the Pzero, grip is now higher but also more progressive and more warning on limit.

The M3 on the other hand can be driven very hard through a corner once you have it turned in, the chassis balance and lightness makes that very easy, also when it comes to braking the M3 is truly in its own league but in fairness it has 300-400kg less to haul up and it has much larger brakes and calipers all round, so that is expected. But even driving the SVR quite carefully through the corners and braking a little early, the outright grip and power on corner exit would just see it shoot off into the distance, it really is a fantastic road car. I suspect on track even in the wet the M3 would eventually real it in as long as it was a track with corners and not crazy long straights, simply due to its lightness and very powerful brakes.

As crazy as it sounds the M3 and Mustang were quite similar drives, though the M3 had the better chassis and more grip, but they both felt similar to drive each with its advantages and good feelings. But driving the SVR really just feels like its in another world, it is truly special and truly capable.
Made me smile when I parked up and went to cash point, a load of teenagers were walking buy, they had no idea I was the owner and were all pointing and going WOW, that is awesome, what car is it and none of them had any idea what it is. :D

Hi there

Had the SVR professionally detailed yesterday by Oliver Sinclair owner of Driveby Detailing LTD in Stoke-on-Trent:

A full correction and 3 stage enhancement (paint cleanse, sealant & swissvax).

Just as the M3, over the moon with the results. :)

It's alright, I suppose.

That before shot though :eek::eek:

Yes I thought the car just had light swirling, we both did, but he kept encountering areas of milkyness in the paint that products could not remove, which in the end turned out to be waxes which were not correctly removed and had baked into the surface, which is what the before and after is trying to show more is the milkyness and of course the swirls, the difference is staggering.

He said though you think your paint is trashed on your GTR it will be recoverable to a high standard. :)

Impressive work there, can't have been cheap if they used Autofinesse gear on it in the prep stages.

He allowed me to use all their products as he is an authorised dealer and I have to say they are indeed very impressive. So shall be adding some of those to my inventory. :)

i would be worried about parking that car in places, you know how some jealous folk are and like to scratch cars.

People know its my car and they know if they scratch it I will have there legs blown of with a shotgun, I will happily do time to put such scum down. :)

But hey its generally parked in a gated drive way or at work which is under CCTV and I guess I am nice guy as I've never had a single one of my cars scratched by anyone, hoping I am not tempting fate by saying that, but guess I've being lucky.

Looks amazing, looked pretty damn good before mind :D

Out of interest, and I know it varies place to place, but as a rough ball park figure, how much do you pay for a full correction on a car like that?

The car should be irrelevant whether its a 1k or 100k car. Most detailers quote on size and condition of paint, not value of car. His pricing for how OCD he is and the time put in, typically 24hr of hard labour for £250 is nothing short of a bargain.

His pricing is along lines of:

- Wash, cleanse and seal, like a new car protection: £100-150
- As above but paint enancement, some correction: £150-200
- What I had done, full correction, enhancement and then 3 stage: £250

At other places you could easily double those prices for sure.

Why would you pick the solid roof version over the vert?!

I generally dislike convertibles full stop, they look pretty naff with the roof up. However a few exceptions are F-Type, S2000 and R8 Spyder. But even then I'd still prefer a coupe F-type or R8 as I simply prefer the looks of them.

Then as Simon says better handling and less weight.

Hi there

When I collected the car it had the typical pre-inspection, I asked about alignment and the response was alignment is not checked on new or used cars unless there is uneven tyre wear which the car does not have, which was fair enough response.
However people here will know I look after my cars and as such I had the alignment checked today at a local Jaguar Specialist, the before and after is attached:

geo.jpg

@Jonnycoupe

As you know these cars far better than anyone else here and as the specialist checking the alignment was just checking and from my limited knowledge I requested for camber front and rear they kept the car close to the Jaguar nominal figure.

For the toe I went with what I thought would be good for grip in wet along with progressive handling as similar settings work superb on my M3 but I understand this is an AWD car so not the same principles will necessary work. On the short drive back I boot it through a corner and the rear stepped out and power slid nicely and it felt controlled with TC not wanting to intervene and car was in normal DSC. So it feels pretty good, before the alignment the rear could sometimes snap a little quick and felt different from side to side, which is maybe explained by the un-even values prior to alignment.

Anyway Jonny would you say the above is OK for road use, or would you recommend dialling in some additional toe or maybe less?

What alignment equipment do they use there Gibbo?

Not to sure, its not Hunter, so not as easy to use but it gives live read out and the car had never being done so was important to get it back within factory tolerance and equal on both sides which it is now.
