Something went wrong, ordered a Mustang, yet ended up in a British hotrod, I blame OcUK!

Well after all the recent polishing and wax for the first time I truly got to see how the car looks in the sun today and boy does it look awesome, what a truly stunning car. Also it really turns heads as well being such a good looking car in such a bright colour.

Having just enjoyed seeing an SVR in Top Gear and of course pretty much my buddies Mustang also it only made sense to post up these images I took today. :)

Really enjoying this car and I think the small little styling tweaks have worked so well with the orange calipers, black wheel centres and lug nuts. :)

Love it. The proportions are just so damn right. It's also aggressive but not in a 'trying too hard' manner.

Is that a reversing camera in the rear bumper?

Yes and blind spot detection camera to I believe which is a really useful system.

Stuff you think you will never need or use like heated wheels and the blind spot system you do not realise how useful they are until you have them. :)

@Gibbo - I’m potentially looking at getting myself one of these.

I have a question which I’m hoping you can answer. On the standard car, you can hit a button and control the rear wing spoiler, I see you have the much larger spoiler, the cars I’ve looked at on AT which have these larger spoilers also have the button. Is this spoiler controllable/moveable?

Yes the large spoiler defaults to active (always up from what I can tell) for more downforce.
If you press and hold the button for around 3s the car will enter Vmax200 mode which puts the active spoiler in its lowest position, so less downforce but improved acceleration and the ability to go over 200mph. I believe the SVR Coupe has being run as quick as 208mph in this mode, Jaguar claim 200mph top speed but it has actually gone faster.

I am unsure if Vmax200 adjust any other parameters on the car, some suggest it sharpens the gear change, but I've not noticed but at the same time I have hardly used this mode.

Thank you for the fast response. When the snow settles down, I think I need to go and test drive one.

Take out a V6S RWD, then take out a V8 AWD. Then make your choice.
If your very brave, take out a V8 RWD. :D

They are all similar, but the SVR is cream of the crop, just lots of little extras that really make it a complete package and they are super rare cars in the UK, I've never seen one on the road before. :)

A blue one appeared on Pistonheads yesterday, yes I check AT/PH daily to see whats happening in SVR market. It was dream spec, 17, 2k miles, ceramics, carbon pack, carbon roof. Was only £79999 which was way too cheap but it was private sale, had a big scuff on rear bumper and a TPMS failure, why they were simply not fixed on a 100k car unknown, I emailed the seller saying I think that is too cheap mate, he replied back few hours later you were right as a trader just took it off my hands. I am expecting to see it re-appear with the issues fixed and at 90k or higher.

Blue ones with carbon roof and carbon fixed spoiler seem to sell in hours, like I say it was a bit of a mad dash to get mine, the first one I missed out on due to a bitcoin millionaire, he is only 26 and now an SVR car friend and this one I had another guy trying to buy it over phone as I was giving my deposit.

Blue ones, carbon, fixed spoiler sell very quick, yet the other colours seem to sit around. There is a blue one that has been for sale since December, also 80k but has no carbon roof but even worse has no fixed spoiler and it seems they cannot move it. I think for re-sale deleting fixed carbon spoiler on an SVR is a very bad idea, they are nowhere near as desirable.

But maybe look at that blue one, as at the moment there are a couple of fixed spoilers on ebay (genuine) for £1500-£3000 so could be an option and I reckon they'd take 77-78k for it as they have it for three months now, be glad to see it gone. Then just put spoiler on, no idea how costly to do and programme in though as the fixed spoiler operates differently to the regular flap regular F Types have.

I'd say on an SVR most important criteria is:
- Blue
- Fixed spoiler
- Carbon ceramics
- Carbon roof
- Carbon design pack
- Winter pack (heated wheel, screen etc)

Any car that has the first two seem to sell within matter of days, cars that have all the above last hours. Like blue ones are being bought up.

I think the SVR in desirable specification will hold money better than I expected, the rarity really helps though and if the 5.0 SC gets ditched for a V8 TT values will be further boosted.

Gibbo very kindly took me for a spin in it today.

What an animal of a car, even on ****** cold salty roads, put your foot down and the power is just instant and unrelenting.

Goes to show the quality of the MPS4S tyres also, he was able to get on the power at any point and it was gripping, I was running cup2s and managed to spin them up in 4th.

Many thanks Gibbo, cant wait for a run at vmax :D

Gonna be fun, hoping for similar slippy conditions because if you and Mac are not getting full power until 4th gear, I might actually win. :D

Shame my mods won't be on car in time! :D

Though I'd not change my coupe for a convertible, in the F Type being originally designed as a convertible, it does make a lot of sense just for the noise...............

Just watched the new top gear with the SVR vs the Hennessy Mustang. Have you seen it? Not exactly a factual comparison but they didn’t half make the Jag seem ordinary on the show. Just wondered if you were still pining for a supercharged Mustang?

You could see on Top Gear the SVR was ahead until 90-100mph in perfect conditions, warm and dry. On the road its just a savage car that deploys power so well but in cornering feels RWD due to the AWD system being 90% rear in dynamic mode! :)

Not at all, because as people found out on Saturday, the SVR is quicker than most things to 100mph from a stand still, even GTR's just can't put the power down like it can. Even in the worse of conditions, freezing temperatures, dirty, gritted, wet, greasy roads it will launch from the line and find traction and just go and its not down to the Michelins it was just as capable on the Pzero from a stand still. :)

A supercharged Mustang is great on warm summer days, but for me the SVR just does it better and is a far superior daily driver that is fun to drive all year round!

Then the noise and every person who heard it and went out in it Saturday were gob smacked at the noise, even more so when those who asked what exhaust does it have and my response is this is a completely stock car:

@Jonnycoupe

One of the passenger I took out at weekend mentioned that the different modes impacts the AWD split as I was explaining how if I get on power on corner exit or even straight line, sometimes traction control intervenes and was why I tend to use track DSC to prevent the power being interrupted but at same time I am a little wary of it in such a mode as it can get rather side ways in that mode, though by having car in track DSC can certainly feel the torque vectoring and E-diff doing its thing, whereas in regular DSC it tends to just kill the fun before the fancy torque vectoring and E-diff can do their stuff.

He suggested snow/rain/ice mode as it permantly locks the AWD to 50/50, which is new to me, I believed all the different modes did was impact throttle response and gear shifts mainly and as such I always have car in dynamic mode with suspension on normal.

So tonight in the wet conditions I decided to put the car in snow/rain/ice mode and left traction control on and to my surprise it does indeed seem to have a different balance, seems more neutral and power slide like an EVO rather than RWD, plus even with DSC fully on its no longer interrupting power which tells me its not breaking traction or getting a slip angle to worry the system. In short driving the car tonight in this mode felt a bit like driving the Golf R, hugely confident inspiring with a neutral balance and more grip generally.

So I wondered if I was imagining all this as placebo or if the AWD power split is adjusted in the different modes? If so do you know or can find out what the split is in each mode please?

Had a chat with Dale Lomas today, the guy who drives the ring taxi SVR to see if I was imagining the additional confidence when driving the car in wet mode in the wet. He has confirmed:
Rain Mode: AWD split is as close to 50/50 automatic as possible.
Dynamic mode: AWD split is 90% rear and 10% front automatic.

So when I was feeling the rear slide out in the wet and then straighten in dynamic but in wet mode I could just really keep the car tidier and put power down with less traction cut was not me imagining it.

I am amazed Jaguar do not market this, as I feel its yet another real strength of the car to be able to adjust the AWD split on the fly with the wet, normal and dynamic modes. No idea what AWD split normal is as I've not asked.

Dale said on wet and slippery laps he puts the SVR in wet mode, DSC fully off and manual gears and it gives a real advantage to running the car in dynamic mode in such conditions. :)

It’s weird rain mode works well in the wet :p

My point is even on Jaguar site, manual and various forums just say it effects the usual, throttle sensitivity, traction control intervention but there was nothing concrete if it was effecting the power split on the AWD models and as such though I was pretty sure it was from driving the car it is nice to have it confirmed that the mode does adjust the AWD split on the AWD models.

Gives the car a nice versatile nature, you can either do skids and get the tail out and then let the AWD collect it up and straighten the car, or just lock the diffs as close to 50/50 as possible to keep it tidier and make better progress. :)

Is snow mode better in the snow too ?

Sarcastic git, snow/wet/ice mode all same mode. :p

New Mustang is nice Gibbo... Orange Fury 10 speed GT

Colour looks brilliant in the sun :)

Got yours buddy?
They are indeed lovely looking cars, post some pictures up mate or make a new thread because lets face it Ford have nailed it as the Mustang has no real competition any more being one of the very last RWD, V8 NA, Manual cars available and around 40k, bargain of century for 450HP and around 4s to 60 in what is a stunning looking and sounding car which drive very nice.

Aye came in today... Just up to the petrol station and back to put fuel in it... Not really driving it as its not a demo so dont want to put any miles on it in case we sell it!!!

Weird tho sitting at 35 in 9th gear :D :D

You should try the mag ride, normal, sport and track, its a fantastic system on them as is the very high-end DSC system found on GT 350 and other very expensive cars.
Oh and I know you can't give it death, but stick it in drag mode and just change gears, supposed to be really punchy. :D

Its a far more complete rounded car than 15-17's though mag ride is a real must have, new manual supposed to be a big improvement too.

Put the car on Litchfields dyno today, very happy with the result. :)

SVRdyno.jpg

Shows pretty much what I feel on the road, this car has instant acceleration and pulls hard from as low as 1000rpm and that pull is maintained all the way to 6500rpm in a linear fashion. :)

Impressive! Just a wall of thrust anywhere.

Guess that’s the old power station rolling road?

Powerstation was an LPS3000 Maha twin contact patch dyno, hence people complaining over low wheel power figures, low torque and issues putting power down as car lifting out rollers.

Litchfield have the more modern MSR500 Maha single contact patch AWD dyno, hence the wheel power being more where you would expect it and more accurate torque figure and no issues with cars trying to lift out the rollers. Hence they can get on the power early and keep it flat so that even powerful cars can get a nice graph. This is kind of dyno Mac needs run his Mustang on as it will just run no drama.
