I think sending a text wanting insurance details was the wrong approach. Should have called and met up to discuss options. I bet he'd have been a friendly enough bloke and you could then have walked away and got a few quotes from local body shops and then get him to confirm payment for the work to be done.
The body shops would more than likely have given you a courtesy car as well.
Their IQ's what though? Don't leave us hanging!
Was it?! You texted him, then called him, and he responded within working hours, on a normal working day. I'd argue that is a better than average response time. I certainly wouldn't be dealing with that sort of thing while I'm at work!it was very hard to get a decent reply from him in the first place.
I don't trust a stranger to pay me upwards of £400-500 to have repairs done to my car, especially when it was very hard to get a decent reply from him in the first place.
Well...a guy I know had a neighbour pay about £1000 for a panel repair after they drove in to it. He was a new driver and knew it was going to sting either way.
But yea, now it's going to cost both of you for years to come.

You made this thread at 1:15pm then posted at 2:50pm to say that he had replied to your text. With very valid reasons about the insurance premium increase for what the cost 9f the repair could be. Doesn't sound very hard to get a decent response to me.
It would be pretty surprising, given they've already confirmed it isn'tWouldn't surprise me if insurance writes your car off lol. That'd be a bummersentimental value you said ?

Yep, but confirmed nonetheless.Confirmed that it won't be a write off before being accessed by accessor is a joke.
