I told him i want to continue with insurance due to me needing my car for work, and i want it to be checked thoroughly by an engineer, not by a bodywork mechanic trying to make as much money as possible off the job.
You only have to look for threads on here where people's insurance have sent cars in for repair and the work has been less than subpar requiring more work to 'put it right'
Yep, so far I've not found a single bodyshop, insurer supplied or otherwise that has satisfactorily repaired anything on the first, second or even third try.
insurers don't tend to use the best, only the cheapest.
I have had accidents that where not my fault previously and it has never effected my insurance premiums.. I pay £30 per month fully comp age 28
Well, I've had one non fault claim in twenty years of driving and my premiums have gone up slightly since 2014 because of it.
You're either not declaring it, or talking crap..
Engineer? You're having a laugh. This is a body shop job, not a chasis repair.
Let him pay for the damage, it's only cosmetic damage.
Going the insurance route will put both of you more out of pocket for nothing. At least you can pick a reputable repairer if your arranging it yourself.
Also if the insurer gets quoted more than about 25% the value of the car they will write it off. That will hurt your premium for the next 5 years.
As i say i have made non-fault claims before, never effected my premiums as i have significant NCB.
I'm playing the insurance game at the moment, so far Confused has been the cheapest. Have tried comparethemarket, confused, topcashback and just now Direct line. You could spend an entire week comparing!
25% you sure about this? don't you mean 90%? or 100%?
Nooooooooooooooo, it's a tedious waste of lifeI used to really enjoy hunting down the best quotes. It's a sport.
