I understand why people complain that x10 is not running 2.x. But in defence, the Rachael UI was probably in development for 1.6 before they had the 2.x SDK. The Rachael UI is fairly complex under the hood and it needs more development to get it running on 2.x.
They probably don't have enough time to change it around with its launch window. So the only logical approach is to release it working on 1.6 and spend more time to perfect it under 2.x then release an update.
I'd rather they take their time and get it working great than rush it out because thats what people want. Take the Satio at launch as an example.
I'm quite happy to wait for a nice 2.x release than a rushed, buggy version.
Will the x10 come with an 8gb mSD card?

Hell im gonna be different and get a white onesim free of course.
I got a nice £30 pm / 30 day rolling contract on Voda.
1200mins, unlimited txt & landlines and 500gb internet.

it just says to me that if it takes this long to update the UI to work with a new OS, they may not bother or just get even slower when version 2.2 or 3 or whatever comes out
i didnt go for the nokia n900 because i heard nokia were abandoning the maemo OS

its an interesting phone, i have the desire on order, but i can cancel 7 days after it arrives, if i can get my hands on a x10 demo before then ill have to see which one i like.
i prefer the look of the x10, ui? dont like the look as i said, but hands on may be different

thats true, tho it does take time, looking at the contracts, i doubt the x10s will be as good as the pre order desire i have, hope the x10 will be available in the shops soon!
clove is saying 30th march at £410+VAT. I'm sorry but who in their right mind would pay that much when you can get a htc desire which is as good or better in most respects (screen slightly smaller admittedly) for £390 including VAT.

thinner, more ram, more up to date android (theres no fixed date for 2.1 on x10), yes it has slightly more built in storage but android will have sd install soon enough. Mobile camera's are only as good as the optics, a high res camera doesn't mean a good picture. I personally think the amoled display is a bonus due to power requirements being less, its also multitouch capacitive versus the single touch (possibly resistive) on the x10. Having said that I'd still have a nexus one over both as I know it will be updated when a new version of android is released, htc is usually slow to release updates too, plus I'm not keen on the skins from either htc or x10.Ive not seen it at that price anywhere. x10 does have a better camera. The AMOLED screen is very suspect in sunlight. Both phones are on par with good and bad points. I think they're both equal in the overall balance. I deffo would't say the Desire is better in most respects.
true but sony's lost the plot with pricing again - just look at the xperia x1 and x2 (good hardware mind) being over priced compared with their competition. They keep being told of poor sales yet they put too higher premium on their sony brandingBecause everyone is different maybe?![]()

first off I said possibly resistive and it's also been reported that sony has said they will not be bringing multitouch to the x10. Now I'll admit I'm not overly bothered by pinch to zoom etc but it's nicer for the keyboard. The X10 is a TFT capacitive touch screen display not resistive as you have stated above,
at this moment in time, none of the review units have had lots of apps running and second I've seen clear stutter in the review videos, so clearly somethings lacking and I'd say ram.Yes the Desire has more RAM 512MB VS 384MB, it does not seem to cause too many problems at this moment in time.
Thats not exactly an area I'm too bothered over to be honest but in my view apart from play now it mainly looks like a pretty skin and integration into timescape (which is the main area of stutter in the video's I've seen) as there an no additional codec's listed, not even div-x which is coming to the desire. I would expect google to update stock player soon like they did with the gallery and htc has their own media player which is quite nice in it's own right. One thing I have not seen you mention in your thread is the Desire / NX1 media abilities; this is where the Android platform falls short. The X10 looks to address these problems and it does seem to do a good job at it.

But like I said I'm a big fan of SE phones and I would pick one over another brand but when they're putting such a premium on their brand (as that's all it is) there's no wonder they're not selling as many when they eventually release the phones. If the x10 was only £50 more than the desire and had a firm date for android 2.1 (or higher with SE's release speed) then it might be more interesting but at nearly £100 more it's too much in my view.
If it's at the same price on contract then it might be different but as I refuse to be tied into an 18month contract due to the issues vodafone gave me I look at it from a purelysim free perspective.
I will admit I do quite like the x10 mini as a 'night out' phone which is supposedly only £230 according to play![]()

This is a Quote from the SE Product Blog.
* Will it have multi-touch in future updates?
Xperia X10 has a capacitive screen. It does not support multi-touch functionality at launch, but is considered for the future.

I am assuming you mean you have seen stuttering in the Timescape interface, if you look closely at the video you can see it pulling down information from social networking sites.
I do agree with you on that, but thats one of the main areas for me.
Historically, SE have always had a higher cost attached to them when are bought sim free. Contract wise I believe the X10 and Desire should be the same price on the contracts.
Hmmm i do like that idea![]()
