It doesn't have pin & zoon as its not multitouch enabled handset. Flash is coming for the handset as its coming to the Android OS globally. I was under the impressed it did have double tap zoom though.

Xperia X10 multitouch issue hardware-related?
By Sean Hollister posted Mar 28th 2010 11:59PM
Sony Ericsson's flagship Android smartphone, the Xperia X10, has been plagued by laggy performance since we first laid eyes on it, but that won't always be the case; the company has confirmed repeatedly that upgrades (including a newer Android OS version) will come. However, it now seems that multitouch is not in the cards. "There's no multitouch in X10 – and I also can confirm that it's not only related to [software] but also to [hardware]," said product manager Rikard Skogberg at the official company blog. If true, that means the X10 won't get multitouch even when rooted, much less a Nexus One or Milestone-like level of native, official multitouch support. But remember, Sony Ericsson has fancy UI quirks of its own -- though you may never pinch-to-zoom on an X10, at least you can enjoy reticulating Splines.

This is comes from the Sony Ericsson Product Blog. Here

However, its Rikard Skogberg comment on the blog seems to have caused some confusion and stated that the device is NOT multi-touch. However, i am waiting for some clarification on what synaptics clearpad digitizer the device uses. Clearpad 1000 devices are single touch, 2000 series are dual touch and the 3000 series can detect up to 10 contact points.

Also its worth noting that the new HTC Devices all use the touchpad 2000 digitizers.

This is a senable post from the SE Blog.

1. HTC Desire (all HTC) and NEXUS ONE don’t have MULTI-TOUCH it’s just ignorance. used is technology Dual-touch and gestures and pinching. (for any Android phone with capacitive screen)

2. The only one that has something like multi-touch is the iPhone, but is some-what mediocre compared to the multi-touch from Hewlett Packard screen for PC.

3. Rikard has not made a big mistake, nor the people at Sony Ericsson withholding information. In this blog there are people who create these types of misunderstandings and disputes and take things people/SE have not done or said. Please don’t be carried away by this kind of controversy.

4. Rikard(SE)said today, had not until the upgrade to 2.1 or Froyo. IT’S Good and the wicked people of this blog started to generate this poorly understood

5. When Rikard speaking of MT refers to the technology of Apple and I don’t think the pinching, gestures or Touch Dual phones running on Android with version 2.1.

6. Google is generating another kind of multi-touch, for phone manufacturers that use Android OS is not obliged to buy Apple’s patents. a good example of this is the pinching and gestures that we see in Nexus One and HTC Desire.

TBH I'm not bothered with pinch to zoom, it's just a pain. However dual touch and multitouch would be very good for games.

It's a shame that Sony Ericsson make such good speced phones and when it comes to quality they just fall flat. Creaky cheap plastic, poor keypad and poor OS would sum up nearly all of their phones as of recent.

TBH. I think they are not using the term "Multi-touch" as they will probably get sued from Apple and its all been taken out of context from that.

I am pretty sure that the SE screen will be dual touch, as in some blogs by Sony they say dual touch is on the way with forth coming updates.

What I do find some what worrying is how fast this has spread around the net without any really evidence.

That may have a element of truth in it. However, there are not always as bad as people make out. Also other makes of phones are also far from perfect.

Must admit I am a bit weary of SE after my C905...4th replacement incoming :p

Shame the Samsung I9000 seems so far away as from the video's its waaay faster a phone than the X10 even with doing something simple like flicking through pictures...and it has xvid/divx hd cert, super amoled screen which is ment to be ok in the sun, plays 720p content, built in 16/32gb + card slot etc etc!

little preview of the samsung

Yes and no... I've had a few SE phones in the past and they have been excellent (T610, k750, k800, k850) but my sisters have got a couple of new SE's and both seem to spend their time switching off... SE have apparently changed their track with the Vivas and the new phones coming out so it may be interesting.

That thought did cross my mind as well. :)

It has been confirmed.

Back in November, I posted that X10 will not support multi touch functionality at launch, but will be considered for the future. I can appreciate that even though there wasn´t a commitment, such wording both creates expectations (small or big) on future support and implies restrictions on software side.
That is the information I had in hand at that point of time. I am well aware that you rate multi touch functionality very high and therefore I regret to inform you that X10 screen hardware does not register simultaneous entries. Meaning even though we will upgrade the underlying operating system in relation to upgrading our user experience layer, X10 will not support multi touch functionality. We believe that it is important for you who follow this blog to be clear on that, which is the reason why I want to confirm Rikard’s comment.

We are working on alternative solutions for certain use cases, like zooming. I will share more details about that initiative once confirmed.
Due to vendor understanding and agreements, we don´t discuss in detail regarding hardware specifications. Having said that, X10 is upgradable and as earlier described there will be significant value offered through upgrades. X10 is about to reach stores and early consumer feedback is very positive, also highlighting room for improvement which we will share in due time.

Regards,

Sumit

This really is no good. Multi touch is one of few 'latest' technology features that is far more intuitive than it is gimmicky. Take zooming in on a page/picture for example. SE really have dropped the ball by not having this on the X10.

I used to think multitouch was pointless but after using it on webpages, maps and pictures on the Desire i've realised that it is very cool and above all else, very handy and timesaving :)
