The PS3 just needs to get rid of the jeremy beadle controller.

I just need a wired 360 controller try the damn thing out now.

I agree with that sentiment as I play both. I find it much harder to convince PS3 fans to get a 360 than the other way around some reason though, they seem more fanboyish a lot of the timeI own a PS3 and 360 and I think it's totally worth having both. It's quite funny, guys from back in 2005 will remember me absolutely trolling the hell out of the PS3 but it's matured as a platform and is distinct enough from the 360 to be considered a sound investment even for the green team now.
Strange they was able to accomplish this with just some firmware updates but that's rather impressive.
I guess but I figured it'd be a bit more difficult than it has been. Or at least be something other devs would do too but it seems like Sony was more on the ball and working toward supporting the devs.Not strange at all really, it's the equivalent of installing a 'new' OS.
...they seem more fanboyish a lot of the time![]()
I'm fairly sure Sony allocated a lot of memory to the OS on release (it was incredibly bare with hardly any features), even if it went unused - as they finalized the featureset for the OS, they found they didn't need all of the allocated memory and freed it up for the games developers. That's likely why they were able to give so much back over time.
Basic SO footprint firmware 1.60:
52 MB main memory
32 MB graphic memory
Additional resources:
- Standard PS3 message dialogs -> for free
- Standard on-screen keyboard -> 7 MB
- Remote play -> 8 MB (for use with PSP maybe?)
- Hard disc related functions (saving, loading...) -> 5 MB
- Online startup utility -> 8 MB
- Full support of friends list utility -> 24 MB, but in the date of writing a smaller module (20 MB) was expected.
- Video chat (up to 6 users) -> 26 MB
- Voice chat -> 8 MB
- In-game microphone configuration -> 8 MB
- Integrated web browser -> 40-90 MB, depending on page and tabs opened.
Well it's not all about being content, we're gamers so I assumed there'd be an equal number or playstation fans as xbox fans that would want to have both and buy into the other system to play it's exclusives. PS3 fans just rarely seem to get interested in the xbox side and I think maybe it's not necessarily fanboyism but it can be hard to get them interested at all when it shouldn't be hard to get a gamer interested in games. I'm not trying to be rude but I think all the consoles offer a good selection so I just don't see why they never seem interested.Or maybe, just more content with their consoles
I'm only now beginning to toy with the idea of getting a 360, as there is a sufficient number of exclusives that interest me... but I'm inclined to wait for Natal to see how it pans out (and potentially a "slim" 360 release).
Su
That's going to delay Gran Turismo 5 another 12 months then so they can optimise it for use with the extra 70meg or RAM![]()
This can only be deemed as bad news.
This means that GT5 will be delayed again, due to the fact that Kaz will now have an additonal 70MB of RAM to optimise for.
Damn it, beaten.

It really wouldn't surprise me if Kazunori Yamauchi was working on the memory optimizations for GT5 right this very moment.

Probably cos there not real gamersI don't think anyone actually cares.
No no no no, he will be working on his statement letting us know that this is an amazing thing for the game and how he will be thinking of new features to add to the game now.
By the time GT5 is released nobody will remember what cars are.
