*** Sony Xperia Z5 ***

If it was such a big deal having a dedicated camera button with how important phone cams are now, Sony would be the leader in the market for smart phones, clearly they are not so its not that important to the majority of users.

I had a Xperia Z3 for a bit and can't say it was that big thing for me, I jus didn't like the phone in all honesty hate having on screen buttons. Its wasted space and they never as good as having a physical button.

anyone notice that some other countries are getting mat finish but in black. I have noticed in some pictures that here in uk we are getting a mat slightish dark grey, where in other countries the pictures seem to indicate a more darker tone of black or my eyes deceiving me?

No offense but what a ridiculous conclusion to draw. Nobody is saying its a must have feature, and clearly nobody is going to buy a phone based on it having a dedicated camera button alone. But it's still better to have a physical button, and definitely a nice to have.

Surprised it's divided opinion so much....

If Sony actually cut down the bezels on the premium the phone would be perfect, large screen but compact size. I really don't understand the logic these manufacturers use sometime. Right now as it stands I am not sure I want to wait for the phone to be honest, will just get a compact but the camera looks to be on par with S6/iphone 6.

The problem with Sony is they compromise on design by making the phone waterproof. Premium looks pitiful next to the C5.

If only the C5 was the Premium with 4k screen.

That camera button.. if the camera button was thicker and more rounded like the power button it would be so much nicer to press.
People might actually see how good it is to have one.

Why would a round camera button make a difference? It's a 2 stage shutter button like on proper cameras, whether it is round or not wouldn't matter as the action and feel would be exactly the same. If it had a grip like a proper camera then a round button makes logical design sense, but on a slab of a phone, a rectangular one is better suited.

In terms of design vs the C5 ultra, that's a personal choice. I like the C5's lesser bezel approach, but hate the ugly camera lens and LED flash on the top, it's distracting and ruins the aesthetic of an otherwise stylish phone.

Yeah I'm not seeing a compromise on design myself.. I think the premium looks much sleeker. If it had a bigger screen and a little less bezel it would even more stunning.

I mean a design similar to the new power button. More area to press, im sure it would make a difference.

As for the C5, ignore the lens part.
Point is why does it have less bezel than Sony's waterproof phones?!

Also if they didnt put that ugly lens on the front you would have this:

They probably compromise on sales as well. Think how many sales somebody like Apple probably gets as a result of insurance claims for iphones dropped down the loo. :)

I don't see an issue with the design myself, but surely its not down to waterproofing anyway? There's a lot to cram in, batteries take up a lot of space for starters, and the C5 ultra is a larger phone yet has a smaller battery.

My theory is still the waterproofing. Id like to see one flagship from them without IP certification. Then i'll know for sure :p

They fit the Premium with 3430mAh, yet the Z5 gets a smaller battery than the Z3+ :(

I wish they made it a tad shorter, its got a lot going on at the top/bottom, I don't care very much about the side bezels they seem fine too me, and the rest of the device is pretty solid.

Looking forward to trying on of these out, might be my next.
