*** Sony Xperia Z5 ***

Camera upp upadated

Wouldn't expect any improvements in quality, looks strictly UI but we'll see once more get hands on.

Got one arriving today, actually! Was expecting shipping on 20th, but had message last night that it is out with DPD today :)
Had my eye on the Premium, fancied a change as I have had my M9 for at least 6 months, and found a cracking deal (usually just buy outright handsets, but this unlocked phone with tidy 2yr contract was only around £120 more over 2yrs, and the SIM will go in to my eldest daughter's phone).

did yours arrive mate? how it is?

did yours arrive mate? how it is?

Yup, arrived :)

First impressions are very positive. Really nice build, and interface is zippy. After a couple of years of Samsungs (Note 3, Note Edge) and HTCs (One X, One, One M9) and a Lumia 930, quite refreshing change (first Sony since Xperia Play!).
The back is unbelievably shiny (Chrome version), and the overall size is quite large, but not too big IMHO. I also grabbed a SCR46 case, which is pretty natty, to protect from lifes hazards.
So far, spent most of my time migrating 'stuff' and setting up how I like it, authorising apps (banking etc.) and so on. That said, the interface is pretty clean and so far so good. Only thing I am 'missing' so far is the neat way HTC handles contact linking - pretty sure I will be able to achieve what I want in the end, but having to learn all over.
Performance-wise, the phone is very good; everything has a zip to it, the screen is simply stunning, and battery life appears pretty solid so far......that said, doubt I will get 2 days out of it! Fingerprint sensor on the power button is faultless, couple of sample video clips I have viewed have looked awesome, and the camera is really, really spritely.
No doubt will have more to report, but....

Lense fisheye sorted, colour balance tweaks and the sharpening filter is much more pleasing. Performance much improved and image stabilization really evident in picture mode.

All in all the camera is a really nice thing now.

My camera button has become very loose. When I press it down it can focus but can't take pictures. It's only 5 days over the 30 day period so it looks like it will be sent for repair rather than a replacement :(

Vodafone just called me saying I can upgrade early, ended up with 500mins (enough for me), unlimited text and 2.5gb data usage for £27 a month, fairly happy with that, hopefully it's with me tomorrow :)

So whats everyones thoughts now its been awhile since release.

Loving mine still, Battery life is spot on now its settled in get 2days+ easily with daily use.

Updated camera app is also awesome much faster and nicer, Although cant find the RAW mode which they promised didnt they?

Bear in mind I came from a 3.5 year old Galaxy S3:

I love this Z5. Its obviously much quicker and snappier than the S3 which also began crashing all the time and rebooting. Material design is also really nice although thats Android's area rather than the phone.

Camera - Quality is great. Anyone slating it needs to use a DSLR instead of a camera phone for serious picture taking

Battery Life - Outstanding. I get 2 days easily with it and no Stamina modes are active and I also have BT and WiFi on all the time.

Speakers might do with a bit more loudness but it can also depend on the video being played as to what volume it was recorded at TBH.

Screen is also great. I have it on around 1/4-1/3 brightness and it works great. I turn it up in really bright light and it works well there too.

I cant commend the phone enough TBH :)

I get my Z5 on Monday!

I've stayed with Three and the contract is unlimited text/minutes and 4GB data for £37.

What do you think of the deal? I'm happy with it.

Anybody using the Style Cover Window SCR42 official case for this? Is it worth the £30 retail price?

Is the three contract phone pretty light on customisation?
My S4 just has some rubbish apps I don't want etc

Tempted to buy outright and just stay sim only

Picked up a Z5 last week...

So far very impressed (although at first was missing SAMOLED). Was tempted to go for the Z5 Compact & even up until Thursday the One Plus X was also a contender but glad I chose this one.

Waiting for a case & screen protector to arrive. Gone with a Spigen case as with the (old) S4.

Also, what's the situation on Rooting this device? Couldn't get a clear picture on XDA
