*** Sony Xperia Z5 ***

well, I found out that

*Clove sells the E6653
*Mobilesphonedirect/smartphones company sells the E6653
*Handtec sells E6653

CPW, Rainforest and Operators sell the E6603.

Only dfference noted in the white paper is that the E6653 has Cat 6 LTE, E6603 has Cat 4 LTE. Other than that, they appear to be identical. The E6603 is the official UK version, the E6653 is the international rest of the world version.

Anyway, ordered from Rainforest as they seem to have best return policy

Strange problem on my Z5: the alarm is freezing/crashing the phone. Has happened twice now (days apart) & seems to only occur if alarm rings continuously without being snoozed or turned off. First time it happened phone froze, was very hot & had to force it off.

Currently on 32.0.A.6.200 build

Anyone tried Antutu benchmarks on the Z5? I'm getting 58-65k but my wife's Iphone 6s is 128-130k wth? I know it's lower res, but the Z5's hardware is supposed to be better. Even if it's a software thing, surely it wouldn't mean a difference of 100%?

Don't think it matters about the score really. Mine gets 47k yet is very slick in use.

So been faffing with the Z5 all day today. Noticed a camera quirk in the new app. It won't remember the stabilisation setting when the camera app is started again. If I turn stabilisation off, it reverts to standard stabilisation, for example.

Other than that it's pretty good. Not a great deal of an upgrade over the Z3,but I hope to make use of the fingerprint authentication stuff once Marshmallow hits.

I've also added fingers for when the phone is flat on a table.

Actually, the 6s SoC is the more potent out of the 2.

Antutu has become somewhat biased, no way the 6s is even close to 2x the performance of the Z5.

Geekbench says the Z5 is the better of the two. 6s has better single-core performance, the Z5 walks all over the 6s on multi-core.

6s has twice the single core performance which is what matters most - and a better GPU.

8 cores vs 2 - and still it can only manage a score of 700 more.

At the end of the day though - nobody should really care about synthetic benchmarks.

Few observations in daily use vs the Z3.

The Headphones Optimisation setting has a noticeable change on the Z5 vs on the Z3. My IE80s have a wider soundstage with more detailed high frequencies with it on with the Z5 compared to the Z3. The headphones amp seems better on the Z5 then.

You can register more than the default 5 fingers. During each registration just switch to another finger half way through. Instant 2 fingers per single registration :p

Agreed, I was just running the benchmarks as I have two Z5's (one is going back, long story) and I was surprised to see one benching 78-85k and the other 58-65k.

Both with fresh factory wipe, no apps except Antutu. Then out of curiosity I decided to bench my wife's 6s and astonishingly it's 130k

And the SD820 benches around the same as the 6s at around 130k. That's with half the core count of the SD810. At the same time consuming less power.
