*** Sony Xperia Z5 ***

Yes, it means the update to 6.0 (probably 6.0.1) is being uploaded to the OTA servers so it can be downloaded over the air to handsets all over.

Had to use Flashtool to upgrade to the latest Lollipop version as I wasn't seeing it on the OTA, was on build 156 whereas the latest is 200. My phone was bought from the 3 store and is sim free but shows the 3 logo at boot up which I was told by 3 store reps doesn't matter as it's "sim free". I don't know why 3 put their boot logo on a sim free handset...

Downloaded the 200 build in Xperifirm, created the ftf in Flashtool and flashed away (ignoring the .ta files of course). Now getting the normal Sony boot logo and it's just upgrading apps and things on first boot :)

Gotta say, so far the battery has not been as good as the Z3 which I expected anyway having read reviews in the past. I'm down and hour or so of total screen on time based on the same apps and same usage patterns.

Hoping the Marshmallow update improves things like it did on the Z3.

Even the ones sold as sim free in the store? I was told by all the staff there and on the phone that it is sim free and will receive the official Sony OTAs!

I guess this is (or was) not the case.

At least now it is properly Sony OEM

Ah thanks! It's a shame as CPW were closed for lunch (!!!) so I walked over to the 3 store who were open. I didn't have an hour to wait around for CPW to open up again.

Good thing I flashed to the Sony firmware then :)

well, I found out that

*Clove sells the E6653
*Mobilesphonedirect/smartphones company sells the E6653
*Handtec sells E6653

CPW, Rainforest and Operators sell the E6603.

Only dfference noted in the white paper is that the E6653 has Cat 6 LTE, E6603 has Cat 4 LTE. Other than that, they appear to be identical. The E6603 is the official UK version, the E6653 is the international rest of the world version.

Anyway, ordered from Rainforest as they seem to have best return policy
hmmm just got mine from the rain forest today and its a E6653, no wonder it was cheap, was an amazon warehouse thing should I return it?

Rainforest advertise that they sell the official UK version but they actually sell the E6653. I know this because I ordered mine from there, received it and it had clearly been opened and used before and I requested a refund of it.

Strange thing is, they refunded the phone cost entirely but the phone is still with me and they haven't even asked for it back...so I actually have the phone for free.

I bought the same phone from MPD which is also E6653 and have that too.

The E6653 is the official UK version!

Not sure where you're getting your information from but if you call EE or Three or O2 or Vodafone they all sell the E6603. If you call MPD, Clove or Rainforest they will clearly state we sell the 'international version E6653'. Infact I even have it on email from clove and MPD.

ah well probably dont really want anyones used ones anyway, shame as the phone was immaculate otherwise, but as I got it fairly cheap and even cheaper now amazon offered me a partial refund to keep it I'll try my luck sending it off, wifi and signal seemed pretty poor aswell compared to other phones so maybe its all related.
