Sorry Yewen, I think I just found a case better looking that a ATC.

Depending on the price though as I keep saying you could glance over the stock bolts.

But it would have to be reasonably cheap to do that.

The box itself obviously isn't (duh) but the processes used to design and manufacture it are ;)

Crap technology = crap case (or crap whatever).

You'd be surprised how far behind in these areas China and Taiwan aren't.

Wow i have to say I relly like the look of these, but to be frank if Soldham's excuse for not selling them here is that they're not not EU compliant and they can't be bothered to re-design them you have four options:

* Import a load and try to get away with selling them without EU safety cerc...

* Purchase the rights and design materials for limited production...

* Independently commision reproductions...

* Commision an EU certified model...

I'm well aware of that, but either way the Japanese are far ahead of them :)

Nice case but all the screws and bolts on the front would stop me from buying one. That just spoils it I think.

Defo, but as Yewen said I don't think it would be too hard to replace them for some nice matt black bolts.

Side note, can anyone read Japanese? Just wondering if the HDD mounts have anti-vibration grommets. That would really make this case perfect...!

We need to make a thread in GD asking if anyone could translate it for us.

Would be interesting to know if the case was quite. I really want to know if the rivets/bolts/screws are aluminium or not.

sorry but in what way?
Sony and the likes have spent far too long sitting on their asses. Samsung are the new Sony imo. Quality product after quality product.
Look at the latest big hit... MP3 players and PMPs. All the best ones come from taiwan. The build quality is superior, the sound quality is superior and the engineering is superior to anything else out there.

China is still someway behind either of them though i agree. <aybe not so much technology wise but their products and cheap and built like it.

First off Samsung is neither Thai nor Chinese, it's South Korean ;)

Countries like all three mentioned above are awesome for churning out mass produced consumer goods, but imo they aren't pioneers for creating new technology, concepts and processes... that stuff mainly comes from Japan or stateside (Sammy I guess are a big exception to this). It's generally accepted that Thai/Chinese built goods are not as robust as they could be (mass-produced, cheap, generic), but if you are happy with that, then good for you.

Don't ask me for specific examples, I'll just give you a link to Google where you can research yourself :) Let's try and keep the thread on topic now...

I know that but i seem to have mixed them up :o as with the big MP3 manufacturers. I would have thought that both South Korea and Taiwan are still a fair way ahead of China. Maybe Samsung are a bit of an exception though i would put LG up with them, and although only concentrated in 1 market you can hardly say that iRiver and Cowon products are "mass-produced, cheap, generic".

I agree with you that you cant really beat Japan for R&D but in a lot of areas the consumer products they are producing seem overpriced and under featured to me, though i guess im mainly thinking of Sony, still Matsushita and the likes seem to be doing this a lot too.

Can get back on topic now.... hell those cases are lovely :D

Nothing wrong in have a nice looking case. I love my old ATC201c. Trying to get hold of a great condition Black Widow for my Nephew now!!! Mind you, i would be very tempted by the case at the start of this thread!!! WAW!!!

Hardly ever the case!

These will make Silverstone seem like good value for money

Another Ss would not be a bad thing, makes them exclusive. But also not very accessable.

A full translation of the spec sheets for the case.

Although I would guess the person who was translating would have to be fairly skilled to get PC terms out of it!

But then again I only know English, German and French so completely different languages!
