I was a bit bored earlier and i decided to look up this series, as i watched it years ago when it was on and was bitterly dissapointed when it was cancelled. Much to my surprise i found a site saying the series was now on sale on dvd on the american rainforest site, but not in the UK. Does anyone know where i can get my hands on a copy in the UK?

We will have to wait 4-6 months at times for some american series on dvd to come out here for our region. As SG-1 series 8 is for sale in the states but not here for another few months grrrrrrr

Top show, but I think it suffered from it's excessive budget raising expectations too high (in terms of what the Networks wanted). Glad to see that commander guy has got another top role for himself in 24.

No idea on a UK release date, you could always order the region1 and then play it back in a multiregion player/drive.

The series got cancelled even with decent ratings, as Fox at that time wanted to go with the Adventures of County Brisco Junior with Bruce Campbell, as they thought that was more likely to keep going.

That got cancelled after the 2nd series so Fox yet again make a mistake and it is rare to find a US TV channel willing to back and keep a sci-fi series going. Only Star Trek, SG1 and Babylon5 lasted any length of time in the last 15-20 years that i can remember others came and went in a year or 2.

I remember loving this series, although to this date I don't think i've ever seen the whole run, certainly not in order :(

I remember the BBC varying it's time slot (and even day) almost every single week, one week it might be on at 10:30pm, the next it would be 1am then 11pm, then 1:30am
I remember barely catching it a few times and missing it completely at others :(

The series could have been extremely good, and had the potential to go on for a while (I beleive it ended on a cliffhanger), but the U.S. networks, as often happens cancelled it before it had aired fully :(

Re B5, that apparently only barely made it into years 4 and 5 and unfortunately it does show at times :( (I would love to have seen the last 2 seasons as they were originally intended prior to the writers having to try and finish a major storyline a season early).

If you're refering to Tucker Smallwood (who played Commodore Ross), he isnt in 24. You mite be thinking of Dennis Haysbert. Unless ive got the wrong end of the stick :p

Im not holding out great hopes for it to be available in the UK, so i guess i'll just get a US copy unless anyone else knows something i dont.

Nice sig btw SCM :D

I think he was referring to James Morrison?

As I remember it amongst other things, the final episode has Vansen and 'phousse plummeting in one of the transports into the atmosphere of a Chig held planet.

I agree this had the potential to be a very good long running sci-fi show and short sightedness from Fox prevented us finding this out.

Same with B5 if the tv networks had been brave enough to back JMS and let him do this as he wanted the last 2 series would have been something worth seeing. As was far too rushed and were a bit of a let down.

I was lucky as had sky then and saw the full series in the right order and it built up nicely to the end and would have been a great series to keep going.

My bad, ive only seen the first series of 24 and they were the only two people i could think of that were remotely similar. Really should get round to watching the other series.

Ok looks like anyone with multi-region will be able to get and view this as i can't see any sign of a UK release date floating about anywhere :( It might change once they see how sales go or we email them and go 'Oi we want it on region 2 please.'

I was almost in tears when it was cancelled ..... It was superb.

A version of the future I like ..... as in there is money, there is the United States Marine Corps and Budweiser.

Also, the phase transducers were not modified to fire a tachyon pulse, thus allowing the ship to pass through solid rock and the sun, saving the day in the last 5 minutes !

Sorry Lopez. ;)

I have most of these still floating around on VHS somewhere. Raymond T Butts was a folkhero in my 4th year at school :)
'Easy as eatin' pancakes'

The way it was kicked around the schedules by Fox and the BBC was awful. Firefly suffered something similar but was ultimately successfully turned into a full film.

If you don't want the final episode spoiled look away now:

Wang sacrifices himself. Vansen and Damphousse are last seen plunging through a strange planet's atmosphere in an out of control cockpit. Hawkes and West are alive and return to the Saratoga with Kaylen. McQueen has been seriously wounded by an explosion in the peace talks.

Thing is wang was back for the second series if it went ahead, as saw some details on the 2 eps and he was listed in them. It was an evil thing for Fox TV to do and leave it like that as it could have run for years.
