Space Shuttle STS-121 - Mission ULF1.1 to the International Space Station

Just hope the HST servicing mission gets the go-ahead now (decision in October I believe). That thing's still doing fatastic science despite it's age, but it's beginning to fall apart, so it's really now or never.

There was talk tonight in the Press Con of an October HST refit/ service so...fingers crossed if all goes well...could well be on the schedule.

I have just downloaded a HDTV video of the launch and it is the most incredable footage ive ever seen. I will try get some shots.

where did you get that from ? , I've just done a bit of googleing but can't find any download links.

While I am sure OcUK don't mind a few screenshots I don't think a download link would be allowed as it is recorded from American TV.

Well it wasn't the shuttle, but remember the last mission to the ISS earlier in the year, when the commander's toy bear floated free? :) And gently floated past the camera in the crew compartment :D I almost died laughing :)

Email me with details and I'll check it out. From the limited information I can find, it may be a legit video of the STS-114 launch that was made available for free download. The server I just tried to get that one from appears to have ceased to exist. :(

In the meantime, there's a brief clip here. Talk about instant conversion from not bothered about HD to I want it now. My wallet just cried. :(

Typical that it's one of my launch threads. Silly me not noticing that. :)

While on the subject of videos, NASA posted the SRB video (better-than-NASA TV quality). Broadband recommended.

Hatches open for EVA #2. Moving around big chunks of hardware today (and fixing the mobile platform power and data cable).

Yeah, it is. It makes me want to go out right now and buy Sky HD. :(

They're now discussing the warranty terms on the new pump module. Do you think warranties are valid in space? :D

It's all gone pear shaped. :(

The safety 'jet pack' system on Piers Sellers spacesuit has come loose and he now has to restrict his movements to avoid risk to that. He needs Mike Fossum to help him lock down the device.

Meanwhile Mike Fossum is at the other end of the station holding a huge piece of hardware that he can't get into position, and obviously can't let go of. He needs Piers Sellers to help him.

Ergo, Catch 22. They've ended up with Piers Sellers gingerly trying to get over to Mike Fossum so they can help each other out.

Seems to have been sorted. Phew. That could have been trouble.

Hmmmmm....

Shuttle launch in 720 :D 609.57mb though for 20mins... :D

*saves along with the Atlantis and Endevour HDTV launches*

Apart from the flight fluff up today it's been fairly easy for them this mission.
