Spain Train Crash

They are built to protect you to a degree but not 190kph into a concrete embankment...

I expect they died from severe crush Injuries and other pretty obvious injuries like being in pieces.

Rip, hope an investigation can get to the bottom of what happened and how something like this can happen!

I would say for most blunt force trauma to the head, some may have died through severe internal injuries with broken bones penetrating vital organs.

Maybe it's about time that high speed trains like these should have seatbelts and head protectors, even racing style chairs to keep the person inside the chair and not move about or just make it so that the trains can't do that sort of speed around turns.

Whoa, that looks like a big one. I guess the rear-facing seats might help you a bit, but yeah interesting that trains don't have any of the seatbelts/pretensioners/headrests/airbags etc that a car has.

According to one report, "State-owned train operator Renfe said in a statement that 218 passengers and an unspecified number of staff were on board at the time of the accident."... on an average British train they wouldn't have a clue how many people were on board!

The Reuters news agency reported that one of the drivers had been put under formal investigation.

The train "did not have any technical problems" and had been inspected just hours earlier, the state-owned Renfe railway company said.

kinda rules out malfunction no?

Eye-opening, just goes to show you to appreciate life. Blink off a second on a ordinary everyday day of the week day, can so quickly end.

Quite, only a couple of weeks ago I was on a train in France on the exact line of the Paris crash but just 48hrs earlier; so I travelled across the piece of track at around 120mph that just two days later caused the derailment.

A rather sobering moment when you realise those close-calls.

During commuting hours you are likely to have 218 passengers per carriage in London.

also I want to say I am disgusted by this mobile phone let's not help people but take a video so me can get it on the news and make money generation. ffs people are trapped, hurt and need help and all people can do is take a ****ing video with their phone.

I'm catching a train in an hour, not what I wanted to see.

You'll be ok mate. No train in the UK travels at those kinds of speeds.

Err....? Are you talking about the video in the link I posted or another one? Cause the video on the Sky News page is actually from a security camera, not a mobile phone.

Yeah well the security camera could have stopped recording and went to help.

How selfish can some cameras be?

Did you watch the video to the end?

It's unlikely the 'person' filming would be able to offer any assistance....

Im sure that its just a constant surveillance camera, for the purpose that it has served , clearly showing the train going at some speed. so its very helpfull being there. No doubt people alerted emergencies and rushed to help but with all that electricity then saftey comes before being a hero.

:)

The driver may have take time running as train late as remember when estonia ferry to sweden was very late and make hurry that led to sinking.. so the train accident may have caused by driver error due to speed by ingore limit speed.. if so then he face serious charge at the court.. if the curve track is flat then should be limit slower speed but if it tilt track that would be ok... but damaged already done

Dude, never go full retard.

Are you joking?

Mainline rail services in the UK frequently travel at speeds of up to 200kph and Kent domestic services can reach speeds of 140mph (225kph). Eurostar will reach 186mph (300kph) whilst in Kent, too.
